- mixed-news.com Breachers hands-on: A top-notch tactical VR shooter in the style of Rainbow Six Siege
Breachers skillfully brings the tactical gameplay of Rainbow Six Siege to VR. I tried out the 5v5 shooter for the Quest 3.
As a huge fan of tactical multiplayer shooters like Rainbow Six: Siege, Breachers immediately captivated me. That's why I checked out the 5v5 shooter for Meta Quest 3. In addition to the version for Meta Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro, Breachers is also available for PSVR 2 and of course for PC VR.
Breachers is heavily based on the Ubisoft original and brings its proven gameplay concept to VR. Two teams compete against each other in multiple rounds, alternating between the roles of attackers (Enforcers) and defenders (Revolters).
As the Enforcers, your goal is to infiltrate a building and defuse two bombs planted by the Revolters. The defenders must prevent this from happening at all costs. Both sides have access to a variety of weapons and special gadgets to gain an advantage.

Saints & Sinners [spoilers]
Just finished the main campaign for Saints & Sinners on PSVR2 and I kind of need to deflate a little. At first I was put off by it but in retrospect, I think I’ve enjoyed the whole weird experience. I still haven’t played the post-story DLC.
I rushed the campaign because every day it said there were more zombies and fewer resources, so I assumed the game kind of wanted to discourage me from taking time to enjoy myself. Plus I didn’t know if it would piss off the woman and her kid, or the guy on the radio, or just cause them to die if I took too long. My goal was to rescue the kid locked in the bunker and gtfo with the woman and her kid. I didn’t actually care all that much about the loot.
Well I feel like my best intentions went to waste. I didn’t want anything to do with the tower or the reclaimed, but l then they got all hostile when I told them no, and I ended up obliterating both groups just in self defense (I played story mode difficulty). It didn’t stop them from showing up at the church anyway.
(Spoiler) The ending kinda pisses me off. It’s like there was no point in building any rapport with either the woman or the kid in the bunker. I ended up having to shoot the woman to stop her from ringing the bell, and the kid just has a mental breakdown. I tried slapping the kids face a bit to get him to snap out of it so he could come with, but no response. I ended up having to just ditch him there and boat off as if the whole 12 days was a waste of time.
Is there actually a way to just save them all and let the bunker, tower, and reclaimed go to hell? Is it possible to broker a peace between the factions? Did I make a wrong choice somewhere to ensure I ended up with such a crappy outcome or is this just how the game is meant to be?

Meta's long-in-development 'Avalanche' PC VR cloud streaming system appeared on a French outlet's Quest 3. The "Activate Avalanche (Alpha)" option appeared in the Experimental section of the settings of one of GamerGen's Quest 3 headsets, as demonstrated during a recent livestream.
The description of the setting translates to "Launch an Avalanche session using the cloud gaming endpoint". When activating it GamerGen was offered to play Lone Echo, a blockbuster Oculus Rift game from 2017 that hasn't been ported to Quest. However, actually attempting to launch it resulted in an error that translates to "Unable to launch the Avalanche session", with a description of "An error occurred while launching the Avalanche session, please check your network and try again."

'RIVEN' Review – An Okay VR Port of an Awesome Game Still Worth Playing
RIVEN (1997), the sequel to iconic point-and-click puzzle-adventure MYST (1993), just got the VR treatment in its new remake. Unlike Myst, which felt a little too game-y and obtuse at times, Riven plays a lot more like a modern title, which thanks to Quest and SteamVR support, is true in every sense of the word now. Granted, you’ll need to look past some VR implementation issues which keep it from feeling like a ground-up VR native, although however you play, you’ll be exploring a fascinating world that’s both puzzle-dense and undeniably beautiful at every turn.

- www.uploadvr.com New Chinese Headset Is Apple Vision Pro & Quest Pro Crossover
This Chinese company's latest headset is a blatant Apple Vision Pro clone but with a Quest Pro style rear battery, powered by Qualcomm's XR2+ Gen 2 chipset.
Play For Dream MR's design is clearly heavily "inspired" by Apple Vision Pro. But unlike the cheap Chinese knockoff we tried at CES in January, this new headset actually has the specs (though likely not the software) to rival apple.
The XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, Qualcomm's most powerful XR chip yet, is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and either 512GB or 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage, depending on the model you buy. The headset features dual 3840×3552 micro-OLED displays from BOE, higher resolution than Vision Pro's Sony panels, with a refresh rate of 90Hz and 92% DCI-P3 color gamut, the same as Vision Pro. Its pancake lenses offer a claimed field of view of 103°, and the headset has eye tracking for automatic IPD adjustment and foveated rendering.

First Impressions: Sony's Standalone Headset For Creatives Disappoints
www.uploadvr.com First Impressions: Sony's Standalone Headset For CreativesWe briefly tried out Sony's upcoming standalone headset powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2.
I tried a brief hands-on with the headset and its unusual controllers at the Augmented World Expo conference in Long Beach. The demo software, connected to PC, showed a workflow for arranging virtual cameras and changing scenes – the types of tools directors or animators might use to visualize their upcoming movie using a VR headset.
The field of view seemed somewhere under 100 degrees diagonal, narrower than most headsets. In the brief demo, I struggled with getting the ring's touch sensor correctly oriented on my finger so it could recognize a pinch allowing me to grasp virtual objects. I also struggled with the other controller selecting a virtual button at my wrist. Both interactions seemed less reliable and intuitive than the pinch gesture on Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest headsets. While those gestures have to be emulated on PC hardware for creatives, I'm still left wondering why a creative would pick this headset and a workflow with this hardware rather than opting for a Quest 3 and Logitech MX Ink stylus or Apple Vision Pro.

Meta's CTO explains why the promised Augments feature for Quest 3 is taking longer than expected.
> "We were playing with it in January. And we decided it wasn't good enough. Meta started work on a Quest Pro 2 in November, The Information reports.
Buried in their report today about Apple suspending work on Vision Pro 2 to focus on shipping a cheaper headset by the end of next year, The Information's Wayne Ma and Qianer Liu also report that Meta "started work in November on a new high-end headset, internally code-named La Jolla".
We've heard that La Jolla name before. In March 2023 an internal Meta hardware roadmap was leaked to The Verge. www.uploadvr.com Xreal Beam Pro: A Phone-Like Device To Power Xreal GlassesXreal Beam Pro is essentially a custom Android phone specifically designed to power Xreal Glasses, including 6DoF AR on Xreal Air 2 Ultra.
Xreal Air glasses lack onboard compute or battery, they just act as an external monitor for whatever device (such as your phone) you connect over USB-C, projecting the image onto a head-locked virtual screen in front of you.
