He/him - I run a discord server called Autumn's Rise, it's a chill and welcoming place to hang out and discuss games/movies/etc. Anyone's welcome to join! https://discord.gg/7J7QRDVg7D
Might be outside of what you're looking for, but have you considered online chess? It's fun to learn, doesn't need quick reflexes, and the playerbase is never going to die.
Haven't played that demo yet. I was a fan of the previous two games, so I feel like I already know what to expect and will probably just save the experience for the full game. Heroes of Hammerwatch was a lot of fun in co-op.
I did, I was very into the idea but unfortunately it was pretty disappointing. Reviewed it in more detail a bit down the thread.
I wrote up some reviews of demos I tried here.
I haven't used those in particular but have tried several sites for this and have been very happy with Backloggd, you may want to take a look and see if you like it. It's heavily based on Letterboxd, so if you use that for movies it'll feel familiar.
Really enjoyed these, especially 2 which is one of my favorite metroidvanias. Easily worth trying out for free.
I remember when Star Citizen first started being talked about I was worried I wouldn't be able to run it on my GTX 770 lol. Both that gpu and any desire to play star citizen have been gone for years.
Back on reddit there was r/gamedeals that would always post those, hopefully a similar community gets going here.
To save anyone a click, it's just a placeholder job title. Really doesn't seem like something that needs a whole article written about it.
I'd recommend Pawnbarian if you haven't checked that one out yet
I learned that from TotalBiscuit a long time ago.
There's [email protected] (there's a [email protected] and other team subs there too). The team subs aren't really active yet, but that seems like the best place here for baseball right now. I'm also on the r/Braves discord, which is where most people from the subreddit are talking currently.
A's fans show up for protest tonight
A's fans planned a reverse boycott protest tonight to show that there's still a fanbase in Oakland and the team tanking is the reason they don't support the team recently.
Reddit was never going to just shut down overnight, but it's more or less done for me (barring some sudden change with the API stuff, but even then I'd make an effort to use it less). I'll keep my account around and might occasionally go to it to look up specific things or visit more niche communities that don't have much of a presence here or on other alternatives yet, but I'm done with just generally browsing reddit or providing any content for them. I'm enjoying it here and hope the boost in activity allows for continued growth and filling out of communities for more specific topics.
As much as these are streamer bait, I do really enjoy watching them. It also has Bennett Foddy working on it, who popularized the whole idea.
There's also [email protected] which has some activity. As for searching: for one, right now someone on your instance has to have manually added it before it shows up in search, but also searching federated instances has been a bit weird with the current server load of all the new people.
Seconded, I love UCH so much. One of my favorite multiplayer games, I've never had anything but a great time with it.
I hate that "review bombing" has come to be considered a bad thing. It's not always for a great reason, but it often is, and it's one of the most prominent ways normal people have to make their voice heard against large companies. That's obviously also the reason it's been put down so much, but it sucks.
Yeah I imagine most of those are contingent on the merger going through.
I believe (could be wrong) that they just are against hosting NSFW communities on beehaw. You should still be able to view things from other instances if NSFW is enabled in your account settings.
I listen to a lot of podcasts, some good ones that cover gaming news are the Giant Bombcast and Nextlander.
