Don’t Call It an ‘Ethnic’ Grocery Store: As Asian groceries like H Mart, Patel Brothers and 99 Ranch expand, they are reshaping American eating habits, and the American grocery market
  • Whenever I know I'm going to be living in an area for a while, I check to see if there are any Asian markets are around. Gotta have my staples! So important for fruits and vegetables you wouldn't otherwise find.

  • True fact
  • Little death mittens

  • Singer sues hospital, says staff thought he was mentally ill and wasn't member of Four Tops
  • Oh yep, you're right about the dementia angle. And even if they were Four Tops fan... you just joined in 2019! Who's gonna know??

  • Singer sues hospital, says staff thought he was mentally ill and wasn't member of Four Tops
  • Just realized he got restrained. You're not gonna get restrained just for a psych exam. He was definitely doing something - getting hostile, threatening the staff maybe. It depends on the documentation and these hospitals know how to protect themselves. Use of restraints REQUIRES justification; it's drilled into all the staff. He's got no shot

  • Singer sues hospital, says staff thought he was mentally ill and wasn't member of Four Tops
  • Yikes! But I could totally see this scenario happening lol. Maybe he came off agitated, manicky (he's in the hospital, maybe he's panicking or upset or whatever). Then he says he's famous too so the doctor was like oh ok, grandiose delusional. Check, check, and check. Assuming he doesn't already have a psych history, I don't see how they would've came to the mental illness conclusion if he was simply calmly saying who he was lol I mean that would've been really stupid

  • I passed by the windows XP wallpaper!
  • When you search it in maps, it comes up as "Windows XP Bliss Hill"

  • The Silent Hill 2 remake is under a lot of pressure to succeed
  • This remake is trying to replace the original. Yes, you can buy literally the worst version of the original with the HD ports, or you can pirate the game or buy used copies for prices that I would call theft, but Konami and Bloober are purporting that the remake, for all intents and purposes, is designed to replace the original.

Right. For a lot of people, it will be their first time playing Silent Hill 2. The remake will be what they think of the game. There's so much riding on this. SH2 is a cult classic and to be honest, I think it will be impossible to meet expectations.

  • Class-action lawsuit against NFL by 'Sunday Ticket' subscribers gets underway
  • If they're doing that then they should sue EA for its NFL exclusivity license too. It's basically a monopoly and the Madden games have been shit for years.

  • Better Than Ezra - Good
  • Big timestamp song for me. Such a vibe.

  • Silent Hill 2 - Release Date Trailer
  • Curious to hear the reception. And the same time I'm just skeptical and might have to skip this. I think I put the original on such a pedestal, imperfections and all.

  • TIL of the Overtoun Bridge in Scotland. A place where dogs throw themselves off a fifty foot drop onto rocks at the rate of one to two per month. Some that don't die, climb back up for another go.
  • Can't help but wonder if any dogs were actually thrown off the bridge by some sick person. Especially as the bridge gets more well known.

The idea of dogs staring at something unseen and then suddenly suiciding is freaky though. I could definitely see this being incorporated somehow into a horror story.

  • Blind and deaf dog Teddy got lost in a neighbor’s yard. Police called to help him shot him dead
  • I'm not surprised. There's all kinds of fucked up backstories like this once you start digging. There are very unhinged people out there who get warnings, get put on admin leave, maybe transferred. Very difficult to fire if local govt and unions are involved. And you bet your ass they protect each other because that means selfishly protecting themselves and the entire department.

  • Weekly what have you been playing discussion - week of May 20th, 2024
  • Got a new electric drum kit and dusted off the ol' Rock Band 4. xD

  • Extra Tired!
  • Did NOT know birds could rest like that. I always picture them with their eyes closed and with one leg up. Thanks for sharing!

  • Other countries have better sunscreens. Here's why we can't get them in the U.S.
  • I don't know about actual sun protection but I pretty much exclusively buy Asian (namely Japanese) sunscreens because I prefer the thin consistency. They're not greasy, perfect for daily wear, affordable and easy to buy off of Amazon.

That being said... I'd still go with the heavy duty American or Australian sunscreens during all day in the sun, full exposure type of activities. Haven't tried EU ones, but they're probably a nice compromise.

  • Allergies are worse than ever in the Bay Area. Why?
  • Well that makes sense now. I had a feeling my allergies have been particularly bad over the last few days, even while indoors. I've been having to take Claritin when usually I just power through.

  • Hey thanks for the video! That was super entertaining and informative. Gonna subscribe and watch more.

…And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead — How Near How Far (2002)

Sonic wall of angst and yet beautiful.

Trail of Dead is a post-hardcore band from the 90's. Great sense of musicianship, especially the drumming. Sources and Codes (2002) is an overall 10/10 album for me.

    IDLES – Gift Horse (2024)

I had no context for this. I'm just on vacation flipping through the TV, this music video by some band unbeknownst to me comes on and I'm going WTF in the best way🔥
