Parts Don't Exist, So I Made Them! // 2UZ V8 1974 Celica
  • I would have kept the engine that's original to the Celica.

She's getting better at every restoration she is doing. Even though, if it was me, I'd want to keep the engine original.

The Simpsons (Repair and recalibrate a 1970ies Simpson Multimeter)

I like this old tech. So easy to fix, and, as long as you can find or make parts for it, they can live for a long time. I don't think that any of my multimeters will live that long.

    A tip for Android users.
  • Not sure, whether it is relevant for this thread, but my phone (POCO F3) does not get any notifications if Google Play Services has no access to the internet. I scratched my head for a while to find out, why I never got them on mobile data. Not sure, what it does, if you disable the store.

    Simplicity; I like it!

My Father Taught Me This! Passing It On To The Next Generation
  • You can edit titles on Lemmy

I am aware of that. If the devs keep cracking at it, ten years from now Lemmy may have almost as much functionality as PHPBB, way surpassing Reddit. 😜

OTOH, this meta-discussion also has a certain value. So, I'll leave the title as it is for now and will keep the issue in mind for any further posts.

  • My Father Taught Me This! Passing It On To The Next Generation
  • That's what I would have thought as well.

  • My Father Taught Me This! Passing It On To The Next Generation
  • Yes, you are right!

I used the original title of the video on YouTube, even though it is not very descriptive. I would like to "editorialise" titles as little as possible. But here it would have made sense to change it. So, thank you!

  • I Made A BIG Rotating Magnet Induction Heater!
  • If you can harness the wind, like they seem to have enough of in Ireland, I guess it could be cost-effective. A windmill may be overkill, but some kind of "vertical propeller" (how are they called?) may be enough.

OTOH, a windmill would be a great toy to play with, so I can understand his wish 😀

  • When people speak English but with German grammar
  • Haha, I am a native German speaker, and I had a hard time following them without looking at the subtitles. But then, grammar is a fickle bitch in all languages.

  • Wget or Curl on unrooted Android?
  • Ah, F-Droid did it. Thank you so much!

    Happy days!

  • This makes cabinet doors SO SIMPLE! (and cheap!)
  • Very true, his videos got more and more commercial over the years, unfortunately. But there are still some gems in his videos now and then, like this bevel. However, I don't think, it has to be 15° exactly 😜

  • This eBay Seller's Custom Built iPhone is a Disaster
  • Haha, yes, that's seems to be their business model. OTOH, I am always amazed by these people's abilities to fix the buggers. It's like watchmaking to me, or witchcraft.

  • Stealthy Hammock Camping 👀 ..Hiding in the Woods
  • You're right! Sometimes I think, having the big 7 on my age counter means to slow down. But it shouldn't. There is so much still to see and explore.

  • Towed In! Died on Highway! (Engine is Drowning Itself!) Dodge Ram Chrysler 3.6l
  • Great explanation, thank you! I can guess, if a nut or bolt is more like a 10 or a 15mm, but not if it's 10 or 11, haha! Yes, it's an art and a science all at once.

  • Ultimate Tensegrity Table Build- Steel & Glass
  • Thanks! This tickles my creativity. I guess, I'll start with a prototype from 2x4s sometime this summer.

  • Ultimate Tensegrity Table Build- Steel & Glass
  • Wow! And does it feel sturdy or rather flimsy?

  • This garden bench cost less than $20 to make
  • Yeah, that would be nice, mine is a little deficient as well. However, on the positive side, a crooked table saw can be a glorious quality-time-waster.

  • Google-Amazon connection?
  • Nope, Desktop computer with Linux, Firefox with uBlock, noScript etc.

  • How to Make a Bullroarer
  • It was featured in one of the "Crocodile Dundee" movies. The sound carries acrpss a long distance, and the thing can be used for signalling/distress calls etc. Not sure if they still use it down under, when there is no cell signal.

  • Google-Amazon connection?
  • I'll look into it, thank you!

  • Google-Amazon connection?
  • Also, don’t use YouTube directly, use Invidious or Piped, and this particular issue would be gone.

It's the convenience. If you want to run a channel, you're kind of damned to sell your soul. 🙃 The question is for how much you'd sell yourself out completely.

Not sure, if these apps run on a desktop computer, though, which is my main workhorse.
