How did you parents take you coming out?
  • I came out as trans to my parents seven months ago. They're still trying to find reasons for "why" I'm trans and want me to go to therapy to be "cured" of it. I'm consequently speaking to them less and less.

  • Anyone else migrating from reddit?
  • Yup! I'm quitting Reddit because of everything they're doing. Since the protests, the quality of my feed is significantly less, and I don't really want to support them. Time to migrate and help an actual alternative get off the ground!

  • Got proof of publication!

I received my proof of publication last night! Legal name change, here we come!

I have a "hearing" on July 13th - they told me it's not a real hearing, there's nothing to show up to, but the day before, email the court with proof of publication and the final form, and then assuming all is well, July 13th, at 1:30 PM, my name is legally changed!

And then I gotta start figuring out how to update all the other documents I need updated. Driver's license, social security card, birth certificate, diploma... all that jazz. Bit daunting, but gotta start somewhere!

MtF as a name feels dated
  • "MTF" feels sometimes like a backhanded way of still calling me a guy. I'm not a guy. It also reinforces the gender binary, which I feel we have a pretty significant population that doesn't fall neatly into that or feel comfortable self-describing as that.

I think it also might benefit to mention that while yes, this is a community about transfems, all queer or even cis people are welcome to engage so long as they're respectful. Possibly in the sidebar.
