Throwback to 2018-10-28 and the man, the myth, the devboss @christianselig developing the best social media app I've ever used (So good I even paid for the full Ultra version!). @apolloapp they did you dirty, your development journey was the best I was ever part of and I've yet to come accross an app as built with as much love 🎖️ #memories

My single biggest (https://mastodon.social/tags/UI) wish for (https://mastodon.social/tags/Ivory) (https://tapbots.social/@ivory) is to add an option to disable all the cell swipe

My single biggest #UI wish for #Ivory @ivory is to add an option to disable all the cell swipe actions and add a “swipe anywhere to go back” feature. (Similarly to Twitter, the Mastodon official client, Woolly, Mammoth, and many other apps).

It would greatly improve single-handed use (with a right hand, that is).

Alternatively, a swipe on Tab Bar to go back a la @apolloapp would be an improvement.

Christian squeezing Apollo for its last bit of money
  • I covered much more than just the lifetime refunds, but do you really believe that there was no way for Christian to refund people who bought lifetime before all the API stuff? Someone could’ve seen Christian reassuring that API is not an issue, buy lifetime, and basically get screwed over. The plushie is a last straw sort of deal. He wants to completely move on from Apollo, unless there’s a chance he can make some more money from it. Not sure how you call selling a plushie of your logo posthumously “reminiscing on good times” while already selling them on wallpapers and convincing them to decline their prorated refunds.

  • I left Reddit several months ago because of the way they handled API changes/fees, 3rd party apps, and mods/volunteers who disagreed with the changes. I was a big fan of the Apollo app ([@apolloapp](h
  • @giantfloppycock I tried a few Lemmy client apps. Some are great, but Lemmy feels small. Niche groups don't see much activity. I guess it's up to everyone to participate more rather than just lurk, but that goes back to having enough time to do so. I still have an account. That plus Mastodon plus some source of news feel like an OK blend to replace Reddit/FB/Twitter/Instagram so far.

  • @ubermeisters I tried Lemmy too. It's not bad, but it's not amazing. I think it's too small to be as "useful" as Reddit is for some things. Maybe once it grows more?

  • @BewitchedBargain I gave Lemmy a shot as a more like-for-like Reddit alternative. It's not bad. What other options are out there that you found to be good? I wouldn't mind exploring some just to get a sense of what's out there.

  • Lemma, another Apollo-inspired Lemmy Client
  • You posted [Lemma]([email protected]) it is enough to just post [email protected]. It wil link automatically.

  • Weird. It works from the app I’m using (Bean). But yeah, just confirmed it’s not working from the browser. I did the link the way you posted it though, so not sure what I’d need to change.

  • 🫡🫡🫡🫡
  • @chase_what_matters It’s okay. It’s got a few more features than the default BSKY app but Atproto doesn’t have notifications for third party apps yet so it’s a nonstarter for me.

Also I’m not a big fan of the icon. It doesn’t follow common iOS icon design language
