Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was a critical smash earlier this year. It wasn't a box office smash, however—but now there's a glimmer of hope that we'll return to that world once again.
"I've heard some rumors about it," he tells us of a potential follow-up. "But I don't know anything yet. But I feel pretty confident that it may happen." When we ask if he'd be happy to return, Pine responds: "Absolutely."
I liked that it was silly and fun. That's okay and something like Dungeons and Dragons is perfect for it. That also reminds me I need to finish watching it.
The marketing was so bad for it. Commercials didn't do it justice and they had these huge cardboard printouts of the cast in theaters where it all looked like cheap props. I don't know where the disconnect was, but I remember my buddy commenting how cheap it looked. He's a Baldurs Gate player from way back, but he dismissed it right there with what looked like a cheap bald cap.
I'm willing to bet it did very good on streaming though. The success of BG3 also can't be ignored.
HAT laid a good groundwork. The writers and director are passionate about the IP and there's an established base of support. I honestly think they'd be crazy to let the opportunity pass.
What a shame that is! This was the best movie of the entire year. People spend a billion dollars to see the 20th marvel movie, but don't go see this masterpiece? WHY?
This was probably the best movie I saw all year, or in the last several years. Intriguing, fun, campy, hilarious, exciting... I have so many positive things to say about it. I've even recommended it to several people who know nothing about fantasy or D&D. If ever there's a good introduction, it's this movie. They did such an amazing job, while being completely true to the table top rpg.
