DeSantis was positioned to be the Trump alternative for the Republicans. If he kept his views moderate with the general election in mind he could have been the sane GOP candidate that could have possibly united GOPers that understand that Trump is a guilty pleasure that loses elections. Thankfully, DeSantis is a moron and has Trump's habit of doubling down on losing ideologies, even when the ship is clearly sinking. It appears that when your party is based on rejecting facts and reality your candidates are similarly empty-headed.

I would support a simple system if it was a progressive rate as it is today. A flat single rate is always punitive to the poor.
Reduce the total rates and eliminate all deductions. Then it could be pretty reasonable to eliminate significant portions lf the IRS, only after income reporting is fully automated.
