Tried smite 2 and have zero idea what's different from smite.

It's a new engine and a rework of their spaghetti code
explain the rework and the "spaghetti code".
They de-spaghettified the code so it's less spaghettified than ever.
Maybe the Morrigan will actually work as intended now...
