Is this a variation on l'esprit de l'escalier, where instead of the perfect comeback you simply make up a set of events after the fact that put you in the best light? 🤔

If it rains, the ground gets wet. (If A, then B.)
If the ground is wet, it won’t cause clouds to start raining.
If the ground is wet, it may have been caused by a recent rain, but there are other possible causes too.
