I think the best method early game is quality modules in primary producers, like mining and smelting, and siphon them off for specialized factories of specific products, like personal robots or tanks.
Quality module 2s should make multi-quality factories more worth it.
Quality is an optional feature that gives marginal gains. It's cool and great for min maxing, but you can ignore quality and still get everything out of factorio
I honestly haven't bothered with quality yet, as I'm still on my starter base before I build "the proper thing" next to it. That's when I'll add modules and beacons to the mix. In other words, I'm still at the stage where I'm relying on the base which will build the base.
I'm almost at the point where I can start preparing, but I have a land dispute with this fucking asshole on Vulcanus that I need to figure out how to settle first.
UPDATE: Yeah, feast on this field of landmines you slithering fuck!
and you get the second tier modules right after first rocket so a stack or two of solars produced with full 4x t2 quality modules should give you just enough.
I consider quality to be unlocked with recycling.
At that point it can be automated, making a nice challenge. Then you can let it run away and be a thing to eat your bases resources while you are occupied, and have already researched everything. Very nice for me who likes to waste time take a lot of time and care in designing parts of my base.
Fulgora is the place to be. Running some siphons to grab from your Nauvis production using bits you can get yourself some nice green solar panels for your spaceships. Then you start getting in the big leagues at Fulgora - quality modules on your recyclers and miners and you'll start getting plenty of blue base ingredients
