On my multi-player play through Wyll fell hard for my Paladin (probably because he's a goody two-shoes) and when he asked him to dance I was like "sure let's have a fun time in face of this overwhelming catastrophe" and then after the dance was done I quickly realized it was quite a bit more than a dance. When I politely informed Wyll that I did not care for him in that way the look of hurt and betrayal he gave me... it made me wonder if I should quick reload and be gay for him, so I didn't hurt his feelings. -_- poor Wyll.
I guess it's kind of realistic to have people actually hurt by rejection, but damn, these dudes just be reading hints that aren't there.

I have never once progressed his romance past "Sounds to me like you need a friend rather than a lover." Any other option just feels like taking advantage of an abuse victim.
I suppose it could be viewed that way. But considering he understood his own feelings and even asked for intimacy later on, I don't really see it as harmful.
This is me but replace will with Karlach and Astarion with Shadowheart.
Replace Karlach for Wyll, and replace literally every other party member for Astarion.
I think you misunderstood the meme. OP didn't have his Wyll romance interrupted by an annoying Astarion. OP got immediately charmed by Astarion.
I admit the choice of meme is incorrect. The boyfriend checking out the woman walking by meme fits better.
