Any Americans here old enough to know the old Schlitz ad slogan? There's a joke that goes with that one:
Mel Famey was a good pitcher but had a penchant for beer. He was used to being relieved in the 7th inning at which point he would hit the showers and head home and drink Schlitz all night.
One close game the manager refused to take him out in the 7th, saying that they needed Mel's arm to win. Famey was pissed that he couldn't get home to his suds, so he started throwing balls way off the plate, intentionally walking the opposing players onto base. His manager had no choice but to take him out, and Mel was happily imbibing at home a short time later.
The away team thereafter referred to Schlitz as "the beer that made Mel Famey walk us."
(the old schlitz slogan was "the beer that made Milwaukee famous")
