Anybody on Lemmy still playing?
Just picked 6 up myself after a super long hiatus from 5. Getting back in the rhythm and definitely will need to pick up a stick again. Shredding my thumb on the dualsense

Is this just how it is as Manon, I'm so tired guys.
Every single match is just my opponent walking back and then doing jumpscare drive rushes into some other random bullshit, when I start checking drive rushes well now it's time to throw fireballs and then drive rush, I'm so exhausted of just chasing people around. This game really punishes you for not having a reversal, fuck me for picking Manon, awful drive rush, abysmal walk speed, other characters walk back faster than Manon walks forward, its such an annoying experience. Every single match is just this, I'm so tired. I have never felt more frustrated playing a video game, think I'm better off just stopping.

Detailed Matchup Data from Master Ranked Games
I got this from Eventhubs, which in turn got it from Cat Cammy on Twitter/X.
I'm really glad someone has compiled this data, and that it shows the game is really well balanced. Very few match ups above 6-4.
On the other hand, I'm disappointed that the two characters I play in earnest are both below 50% win rates. Also, I'm not Master ranked so it doesn't really reflect what its like at lower ranks.
So the data is neat, but won't impact me personally much. I'm going to keep playing my scrub Marissa and Honda. They're fine at my level and suit my playstyle just fine.

Is Xbox Series controller any good?
I've been using a really old Dualshock 4. It was fine for modern, but I have switched to classic recently, and getting some inputs has been really difficult. The dpad is really mushy. Many times, I'm positive I'm holding down back but still end up getting hit because the controller doesn't register the input as down back, it's really frustrating. I love everything else about the controller, the button placement and the size suits my small hands really well.
Looking around I found some old threads where people were praising xbox controller but then I found this video and now I am not sure, the face buttons also seem really stiff. Other pads like HORI and Razer ones are way too expensive here so either I just buy a new DS4 and hope it'll diminish my issues or buy the xbox controller.

My review of the Hori Fighting OCTA gamepad
A lot of reviews of this controller were from YouTubers that did not look like they played fighting games seriously. NihongoGamer was the one YouTuber that actually tested it in multiple fighting games. So I figured I could provide a review for future users looking to upgrade.
I got this gamepad in order to play on PS5s at my local FGC events. I've been using a Hori Fighting Commander 4 since SF5. I play with a standard controller grip with my thumbs on the face buttons. I’m a Master ranked Chun-Li player on SF6 and execution is essential in getting those serenity stream combos done right.
I’ve tried a lot of gamepads for playing Street Fighter. What I liked about the Fighting Comander most was its excellent cross dpad, and 6 face button layout. I’ve used a floating dpad in the PowerA Fusion and knew I did not like that; it’s harder to do down-to-up motions without accidentally hitting a diagonal.
I want my dpad to not have too sensitive of a dpad. This makes it better to perform a straight neutral jump from crouching block (down-back, then to up, or 1 to 8 on a keypad). I also need to hit the orthogonal directions when performing a super (d,df,f,d,df,f; or 236236). If the diagonals are too sensitive, it’ll come out as d,df,f,df,f and will miss the input.
I also want my dpad to be sensitive enough to perform a particular Chun-Li special attack. Her flip-kick is df+HK (3+HK). This is often done after using a drive-rush dash forward, which is f,f. So I need to slightly adjust the thumb from forward to down-forward quickly. Otherwise it becomes a sweep and can get punished. And most importantly, I need to easily crouch-block from any position and switch to a standing-block for basic defense. If it’s not sensitive enough, I’ll easily miss the block.
For the Hori Octa, I updated to the latest firmware and installed the Hori software to manage the device for all 3 consoles. I knew that it was crucial that I adjusted my diagonal sensitivity to hit the sweet spot. I’m happy to say that the Hori Octa works well for me after adjusting the sensitivities. Its dpad feels stiffer than the Hori Fighting Commander and is a bit smaller. But the orthogonal directions stick out and provides a similar-enough cross pattern. The face buttons feel better than the Hori Fighting Commander, a bit louder due to the microswitches, but I know it’ll last longer as well.
I made my bottom-diagonals more sensitive than my top-diagonals, but less sensitive overall compared to the balanced input. After a week of playing and testing, I can confidently use this controller when I go on ranked and know that I’ll be playing my best. I do not play with the analog stick but appreciate having it there.

What is actually up with the tournament mode in SF6?
Is this thing just broken, or what? They locked 3 achievements behind the mode, but I almost never see any tournaments being held. I saw one a while back but it was at some ungodly hour in my timezone, so I couldn't participate. Then they held another one today which I thought I would be able to play. I went into the battlehub shortly before the tournament, registered, and then... at the appointed time, it tells me I was removed from the tournament because I was not in the battle hub. Even though I was standing there the entire time!

We need an "accelerated animations" option for super arts
Watching the moves play out was fun for the first month but it starts to get old after a while. There needs to be an option to skip part of the animation or play it at 2x speed in matches.

Thoughts on the TMNT DLC?
So, the TMNT content came out of nowhere and was a nice surprise. But along with the Onitsuka Tiger thing, it's clear that Capcom is going to do a lot of sponsorships and product placement along these lines going forward.
As for myself, I generally don't care much about cosmetic items. I might spend a few bucks here or there if I think something is really cool, but I'm generally not going to engage in purchasing that type of content. It's still fun to walk around the battle hub and see other people using it though.
However, the prices on this content absolutely floored me. I figure a reasonable price for the entire bundle of content would be about $10 maybe. But just a single skin costs closer to $20 (and you can't straight up buy them, you have to purchase the coins which are only available in certain denominations, so you are left with leftover coins). These skins are almost replicas of each other, they just have different weapons and mask colors! But each one has to be bought separately? And if you want to buy just the mask, each color has to be bought separately?? What happened to the dyes that you can find in game?
I get that it's just cosmetic content, so no one NEEDS it. But it just seems like a dumbass move for them to try charging so much. What are your thoughts? Anyone purchased it?

Any thoughts on fight sticks?
I was going to pick up a fight stick for playing SF6 on PS5 and was thinking about grabbing the HORI Alpha. Looks pretty easy to swap out the buttons for Sanwa if needed. Any of you using fight sticks?

Thoughts on Rashid?
I know Rashid only came out yesterday but what are your thoughts on him in sf6? Personally I’ve been enjoying labbing him so far and definitely want to play him in addition to my Juri. All the mobility is just so fun to use and I’m sure there’s gonna be a lot of tech found out pretty soon

My first recent local FGC tournament experience and nerves
The last time I had local FGC tournament experience was SF4 a decade ago. Time has gone and so I decided to try my first local tournament at the local FGC.
One thing I forgot was just how nerves impact your play such an incredible amount. And having not played in a tournament or even at the local group, I was definitely shaking at each match.
My last double-elimination match, I had a lot of mistakes on combos that I know I am consistent on in ranked matches. I sensed my opponent was in the same situation and dropping his combos too. On Game 3 Round 3, both in CA stage, he dropped a combo that would have finished me and I then dropped the punish combo that would have finished him. He deserved that win.
I still had a great time. If you haven't looked up your local FGC yet, they're starting to come back up again after the pandemic and I would encourage you check them out. The only thing that will calm tournament nerves is more local practice.
