What's the most "set and forget" Linux distro that's still flexible these days?
  • Considering your previous experience with Ubuntu, I would recommend Debian. Just make sure to get the right ISO for what you want.

Since you're complaining about Ubuntu not working with ACPI power states, my next recommendation would be Endeavour to be more up to date and get fixes and stuff sooner. It's pre-configured Arch.

  • New Rule
  • I still have to watch it. Reading it has been good though.

  • "Be vigilant, there's an idiot kicking about again": Cyclists warned as latest wire trap "clearly intended to do harm" found on trail
  • I mean, in that case, at least it was a mentally disabled person. There's an understandable explanation for it. Other than that there's very little explanation for something like this.

  • "Be vigilant, there's an idiot kicking about again": Cyclists warned as latest wire trap "clearly intended to do harm" found on trail
  • Still seems very overboard to try and seriously harm someone for cycling in the forest.

  • "Be vigilant, there's an idiot kicking about again": Cyclists warned as latest wire trap "clearly intended to do harm" found on trail
  • I'm not a cyclist. I grew up in a country where drivers hate them for taking up too much space (no bike lanes, of course).

My question here is fucking why? Why would anyone do something as dangerous and fucked up as this?

  • I first read Frankensteins mother
  • I somehow read Frankenstein's Mother the first time.

  • Period tracking app refuses to disclose data to American authorities
  • It's the app the comment above me was recommending. I just wanted to make that clear and show that it was available outside the app stores as well.

  • KDE spotted in Dexter!
  • So, delta updates?

  • KDE spotted in Dexter!
  • Did it make the update any faster?

  • Blocking trash newspapers in Apple News+ just disables the link but doesn't free up screen space.
  • That sucks. If I block you I expect to cut you off completely. You shouldn't be able to see me or interact with me. I shouldn't exist anymore as far as you can tell. Otherwise what's the point?

  • New Rule
  • Yeah, me too. I haven't been able to find any info though.

  • Blocking trash newspapers in Apple News+ just disables the link but doesn't free up screen space.
  • No idea how Discord's blocking works since I've luckily never needed it. What makes it so useless?

  • Nintendo sues streamer for playing pre-release, emulated Switch games
  • Agreed. I hate Nintendo and their scummy tactics just like anyone else, but sadly the law is on their side here. Also, they're known for this. Why would you do this and then double down after they start taking down your content.

I am not on Nintendo's side, but I have zero sympathy for someone who does this to themselves.

  • New Rule
  • Yeah I hate the current trend of everything being an isekai, but I like when the story does it well. Log Horizon was another one I enjoyed. The main characters try to return home, but they're also learning about the world they're in and trying to adapt to its rules and ways of doing things instead of just steamrolling their way through.

  • New Rule
  • So is the spider one. The light novel has been really good and the manga doesn't focus on the other characters so much as just the main character and her story.

I haven't finished either one, but I have been loving it so far.

  • Looking for a uBlock blocklist that blocks those auto-playing videos that get inserted to so many web articles these days.
  • Not sure if you're on desktop or mobile. On mobile I'm using Mull with uBlock origin in medium mode. I don't see any videos in the article you linked and I don't see most of the annoyances many people complain about.

This is a rather strict setup that can break some sites, but over time you can tune it to make most sites work without intervention on future visits.

  • Script to install Brave and Vivaldi variants on Fedora Atomic
  • I'm all for user agent settings, but I don't want to mess with that for work stuff. So, I just use Chrome or Edge for that one site.
