Its nearly impossible to replicate what YouTube it is today. The amount of storage and bandwith require is immense, also the creators coming up to a new platform without a way to get money it will really hard to have something like YouTube.
So yes I got synapse installed and I use element as a client but when I tried to register an account it wants to send me an email from my own server and since port 25 is blocked.
Where did you host your Matrix server? I was using Hetzner but they block port 25 for email.

Login Issues
I been trying to login into lemmy on two different instances on my computer and it just get stuck loading. It does not login , I tried to change the password and also not working just loading. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Financially supporting the Fediverse
As some of you may or may not know, Lemmy, Mastodon, and Pixelfed are all part of the fediverse and are run by individuals who spend their own money to pay for servers. Every time a large wave of users arrives, they have to upgrade their servers, making it more expensive. Can we discuss and share some ideas on how we can financially support these individuals? Perhaps through donations at sign-up?
We have to be mindful that we have to support this with something because they are not big corporations just regular people giving out to the community.

For every person that is complaining how difficult is to use Lemmy and that is not "user friendly". This is how the internet started back then , everyone was confused and they had to learn how to use. Embrace the change , embrace the new federated social networks and it will eventually get better.
