PPSSPP multiplayer questions

Is anyone familiar with PPSSPP multiplayer? I see there are two options, ad hoc and online and have a few questions. I read that online multiplayer is really just tricks around ad hoc mode, and it requires port opening on the router to work. Does that mean that it won't even work if I'm on cellular data?

If I'm playing with someone on the same WiFi in ad hoc mode, both on Android phones, will it work as is or are there also ports to open? I don't even know what kind of firewall Android sets up. Thanks for your answers, just want to play with friends.

What is the appeal of Monster Hunter games?

While researching good PSP games to play I found many posts about Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and other Monster Hunter games. They are beloved by the community but after doing some reading/watching it's not clear to me what the appeal is. I would appreciate if someone could tell what the goal is and what you love about the game. Apparently they are very long games (I think I read 100 hours or something along those lines) which is really great if I can get into a single game for that long. Thank you!

COD Mobile permissions question

Anyone playing COD: Mobile on Android? I was wondering whether you still need to grant storage permissions to play the game at all. I'm hoping that this is because of supporting older Android SDKs and not needed any more. Thanks for your help.

Awesome audio plugins for Reaper that work on Linux

I found this gem and wanted to share it with you. Reaper being available for Linux is a pretty great thing but generally I didn't find many audio plugins being made available for Linux, especially plugins that try to recreate vintage hardware.

Anyway, here's a project that has a lot of those being written directly for Reaper using its DSP language and I can confirm they work on Linux.

The dev has a YT channel where he shares progress: https://www.youtube.com/@johnmatthews8435

Do you have security concerns with cheap mechanical keyboards

Yo everyone! I have questions about using cheap and generic mechanical keyboards. For example the Royal Kludge RK61 which has wired, Bluetooth and 2.4GHz connections. My host will be Linux machines. Do you see any security issues with using keyboards like that or were there any incidents of such devices being malicious?

Another concern might be the 2.4GHz USB that's included. Assuming it's not doing anything malicious is the connection encrypted or would you always instead use wired or Bluetooth? Thanks for any answers!

Does the power brick matter when charging USB-C devices?
  • That's very cool. I checked my laptop and it has USB-C Power Delivery, does that mean I can try to charge it with my Switch charger? That one gets 39W on its 15V output which my laptop has to support as well, being PD compliant?

  • Does the power brick matter when charging USB-C devices?
  • Thank you very much. I have a follow up question. Is it OK to charge a device which has an original charger of 65W with say a 10 or 22W charger? Is it just the charging speed that's affected or are here overheating concerns as well?

  • Does the power brick matter when charging USB-C devices?

Yo everyone. I'm trying to understand how USB power works with batteries, hopefully this is the correct community to ask. We have so many different devices that can be charged with USB-C, yet all the power bricks and power banks have different voltage, amps, watts. Can I use any USB-C brick or power bank with any device and battery and it must intelligently never draw over the limits of the power source?

I thought that USB-C is made for this yet I can read reports that people damaged their Nintendo Switch because of a power brick. How careful do we have to be when charging our phones, tablets, laptops, gaming devices? What exactly to look out for when deciding what to plug in where? Thank you very much for any replies.
