SimpleLogin as custom domain contact

Yesterday I purchased a custom .eu domain, only to find out that eurid does not redact the owner's email address. Obviously I'm not comfortable with using an actual email address on a secondary domain.

Any opinions on using an alias as the domain owner's email address? Or should I simply switch to another TLD which does support full whois privacy?

Thanks for feedback.

what lemmy app do you recommend and why?
  • I've tried a large number of apps in search of something to replace multireddits. Summit for Lemmy is the only one which managed to implement this under its multi-community functionality. The app is being consistently updated with new features and I do not feel like I'm missing out on anything other apps offer.

  • Custom feeds / tags (for personal use)

I would very much enjoy being able to create custom feeds as Reddit currently allows, i.e. dump multiple subreddits into a single feed. For practical implementation, you could mimic this functionality by allowing the user to add tags to subscriptions (client-side only) and add these filtered feeds somewhere near the location of “Subscriptions”.

    Subscriptions

    • Pics (all subscriptions tagged Pics)
    • Tech (all subscriptions tagged Tech)
    • PORN (all subscriptions you obviously don’t have)

This way I won’t have to scroll past 200 cats if I want to read up on the latest Android news (which appear to be released less frequently than pictures of random cats).

    Thanks in advance.

Feature Request : Mark as read on scroll, Hide read posts
  • I'm currently sticking with Jerboa purely due to mark as read on scroll. On Reddit I could bundle subreddits which made reading easier but on Lemmy we're stuck with a single feed (for now?).

  • Trustworthiness of dark reader
  • The recommended action when your CPU can't handle it is to switch the mode to Filter or Filter+ instead of Dynamic. It's not as good looking but it does darken the website at least.

  • GPU Upgrade & Manufacturer Recommended PSU W
  • More horsepower, yes. Fits within 650W per recommendation, no. I read the AMD announcement earlier and I'm interested in what the 7800 has to offer vs 4070 (and the price ofc).

  • GPU Upgrade & Manufacturer Recommended PSU W
  • QHD and the monitor is set to 165z but I'm not dead set on hitting that amount of fps consistently. The GTX 1080 runs Baldur's Gate at some 53 fps in outdoor locales which is a solid performance for its age.

  • GPU Upgrade & Manufacturer Recommended PSU W

It's a Corsair RM650x (2018) 650 W so I'm not very concerned about the quality. It does make sense to simply upgrade the whole thing but then we're talking ~2000 EUR instead of 600-900 for the GPU alone. Choices.

  • GPU Upgrade & Manufacturer Recommended PSU W

I'm looking into upgrading the GPU of my 2019 rig (3700x) and I'm wondering how necessary it is to follow the manufacturer recommendations on PSU. Originally I decided not to upgrade the 8GB GTX 1080 because it simply sufficed my needs and bought a 650W PSU unit.

Fast forward to 2023 it is apparently difficult to pick a GPU which officially requires <= 650W. I'm looking for an acceptable price/performance/longevity combo and the only option right now appears to be the 4070 (not Ti). If PSU was not an issue I probably would have gone for 7900 XT instead, however paying extra 150 EUR for a new PSU on top of that is silly (let alone rewiring everything). PC Part Picker tells me I have some 70W to spare after installing a 340W Sapphire 7900 XT. I'm also limited by 330cm clearance but that's less of an issue.

    Any thoughts? Thank you.

What Android apps are worth paying for?
  • Revoke internet access for Nova, problem solved. Slap nextdns on top of that and you're golden.
