Internet forums are disappearing because now it's all Reddit and Discord. And that's worrying.
  • Forums are alive and well when looking for car info. Whenever I get a different car I look for communities with the most activity and that is usually a forum.

The one exception I can think of (proving the post to be true) is the first generation Tundra (2000-2007). The FB group had more current news than the forums and I managed to get banned (first time ever).

Are Oakland hills homeowners willing to pay a tax for fire prevention?
  • Reading the article, fees are reasonable ($99/yr) for single family homes.

The fees for apartments are $65/yr, which I question. How did they arrive at that price? How many rentals are in the affected area? Will renters care that much to pay any more fees?

Study Says That People Who Like Loud Exhaust Are Psychotic
  • I started typing everything below and then remembered most people that modify their exhausts want attention and most of these people with loud cars are young. They usually grow out of it.

I used a loud radio in my car to get mine when young. I still like loud music but keep it to myself.

    Original reply

I've almost always lived in places where there was a mechanical inspection or smog inspection. There were a few times I had to temporarily let my car be loud and I hated it. These times were only when I was waiting on parts or talent.

Some people play the cat-and-mouse game with loud, modified exhausts and fix them when caught. Others like to modify their ECU so the car makes popping noises when decelerating.

  • You should lie out here and take a nap
  • I had a No Mow Spring in my backyard. The yard was cut down less than a week ago because I could not go out there for 10 minutes without my eyes starting to hurt. It was worse if I tried to kill the invasives. My area has had a terrible allergy season.

Cat pic in the yard - https://lemm.ee/post/33672371

It is mostly non-native grass mixed in with invasives. There is ONE native plant I put in. Baby steps. I will add a few more natives during planting season.

  • Oakland closed 537 homeless camps in 3 years. 1,500 remain
  • (My comments are not about Oaklandside)

I was going to make a comment about Oakland closing the camps but not having a place for the people to go. This quote basically sums it up:

City staff say the policy is not intended to tackle the root causes of homelessness or create affordable housing. Instead, it narrowly lays out methods for addressing camps. Other city programs look at the bigger picture, they say.

  • Squeaky in the No-Mow-Spring yard.
  • There is nowhere nice for birds to land the cat can easily reach, by design. I know cats are bad for birds but he is 12 years old and lazy.

I try to help the environment as much as possible but I'm not perfect.

  • Progress can be seen in all parts of life
  • Damn, I admit I was guessing after looking at the headlines. Glad to hear someone is attempting to do it safely.

I am familiar with engineering and was amazed at all the corners cut by Oceangate.

There were several people who quit working with OceanGate because their failure would paint all submersibles with a bad reputation. And thanks to morons like you and Stockton, they were right.

Please don't lump me in with Stockton. I may be a moron in many respects but I disagree with his whole approach the endeavor.

Safety rules are usually written in blood and ignored all of them.
