"Move On Over Or We'll Move On Over You" - Black Panther Party Song

>This is a song of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense, based on the BPP slogan "Move on over or we'll move on over you." It was set to the same tune as The Battle Hymn of the Republic/John Brown's Body.

Notable comment: >1. @thomasl.koehnline5775 | 1 year ago | Since it's not in the description, I just want to mention that these lyrics were written by Len Chandler, a great songwriter from the Greenwich Village scene who toured around with Cordell & Bernice Reagon & the Freedom Singers during the Civil Rights Movement in the '60s & later. This recording is from an appearance he made on Pete Seeger's 1964-65 TV series Rainbow Quest, & is the only recording I've found of Chandler himself performing the song. | Len Chandler died just a few days ago, at the age of 88.

Lil Baby - 5AM (Official Video)

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/22083381

> "Am I delusional? Keep tellin' myself that it's all good" > > > >“5AM” by Lil Baby captures a deep exploration of the struggle between material success and emotional fulfillment. The song reveals the artist’s introspective journey as he grapples with the consequences of his achievements, his relationships, and his mental state. While he celebrates his wealth, he simultaneously confronts the feelings of loneliness and discontent that can accompany such success, creating a relatable narrative many listeners can resonate with. > > >In the verses, Lil Baby reflects on conflicting emotions tied to his rise as an artist. The line “How you managed to get everything you want and still ain’t happy?” highlights the irony of wealth, suggesting that even after attaining material desires, true happiness remains elusive. He speaks about losing part of himself, indicating a sacrifice of personal identity in the face of fame and fortune, particularly with the line “Half of me done died, the other half alive.” This duality emphasizes the struggle for balance between his past life and current reality. The mention of his grandmother’s wisdom reinforces the notion that challenges are inherent to things worthwhile, while comments about love and betrayal illustrate the complexity of relationships that often suffer under the weight of ambition. Furthermore, his references to survival instincts and his upbringing in the hood ground his experience in a broader cultural context, where resilience is vital for success. > > >Overall, “5AM” serves as an honest reflection on Lil Baby’s journey through fame, illustrating how success does not equate to fulfillment. His lyrics encapsulate a blend of vulnerability and toughness, as he examines personal loss, emotional challenges, and the weight of expectations. The song effectively resonates with anyone navigating the complexities of life and ambition, pointing towards the idea that true happiness may lie beyond wealth and status.^[[1] https://genius.com/Lil-baby-5am-lyrics]

At least 15 rescue workers killed in Israeli strike in Lebanon
  • The strike in Douris, near the city of Baalbek, destroyed a building of the civil defence agency, which is linked to the Lebanese government and not affiliated with the Iranian-backed group Hezbollah. The regional governor, Bachir Khodr, said the victims included the city’s civil defence chief, Bilal Raad.

The Lebanese civil defence carries out emergency services including search and rescue work and fire-fighting response.

According to Lebanon’s health ministry, at least 192 emergency and health workers have been killed in Israeli air strikes across the country since the escalation of the conflict with Hezbollah in September.

The attacks come as Israel has intensified its air campaign across Lebanon in recent days, including on Beirut’s southern suburbs, where Hezbollah is based in the capital. The area was hit by air strikes for the fourth consecutive day on Friday following evacuation orders issued by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which says it is targeting infrastructure linked to the group.

The Lebanese government says any agreement should be based on the United Nations Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel. The resolution includes the removal of the group’s fighters and weapons in areas between the Blue Line - the unofficial frontier between Lebanon and Israel - and the Litani River, about 30km (20 miles) from the boundary with Israel.

Israel, however, wants the right to act inside Lebanon if there is any violation of a deal. There are no signs that Hezbollah, or the Lebanese government, are willing to accept such a demand.

Hezbollah has been severely weakened after two months of intense air strikes that destroyed large parts of its infrastructure and killed many of its leaders. But after the initial shock, the group seems to have regrouped, according to analysts, and continues to carry out daily attacks on northern Israel, although not with the same intensity.

  • Amsterdam Clashes: Media Ignored Israelis Chanting ‘Death to Arabs’

    >Key Points: >1. Media Manipulation: The media’s portrayal of events often skews the reality, influencing public perception and discourse about Israeli actions. This manipulation serves political agendas and can incite further violence. >1. Symbolic Attacks: The targeted uprooting of Palestinian flags by Israeli hooligans indicates a deeper ideological conflict, showcasing the aggression against Palestinian identity rather than mere sports rivalry. >1. Alternative Journalism: The role of citizen journalists is crucial in providing unfiltered narratives, challenging mainstream media’s coverage and highlighting overlooked realities. >1. Social Tensions: The violence in Amsterdam is symptomatic of broader societal tensions, where sports events become flashpoints for underlying ethnic and political conflicts. >1. Historical Context: The alliance between anti-Semites and Zionists historically demonstrates a complex relationship where both groups benefit from anti-Semitic rhetoric, complicating narratives of victimhood. >1. Psychological Factors: The victimhood mentality prevalent in Israeli society drives a narrative that justifies aggression, affecting both domestic and international relations. >1. Radicalization Trends: The rise of extreme political figures in Israel reflects a worrying trend towards normalization of violence and rhetoric that dismisses Palestinian rights, potentially leading to increased conflict.

    ---

    >Zachary Foster, a historian of Palestine, joins the show to break down the last week of attacks in Amsterdam and debunk the widespread narrative in mainstream media of antisemitic "pogroms." Foster explains how the media twisted the unfolding events by omitting the anti-Muslim, anti-Arab violence and threats from Israeli Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer fans that instigated the clashes – provocations seen in widely-shared video online.

    >Key Points: >1. AIPAC’s Influence: AIPAC’s power in shaping political narratives demonstrates the challenges faced by progressive politicians advocating for Palestinian rights. Its substantial financial backing can silence dissenting voices. >1. Gerrymandering Impact: The redrawing of districts to exclude Black voters reflects systemic racism within the Democratic Party and highlights how political maneuvering can undermine representation. >1. Intersectionality of Struggles: Bowman’s experiences illustrate the interconnectedness of racial justice and Palestinian rights, emphasizing that struggles against oppression are universal. >1. Regret and Reflection: His regret over the Iron Dome vote shows the importance of evolving political consciousness and accountability among lawmakers. >1. Call for Ceasefire: Bowman’s support for ceasefire resolutions underscores the urgent need for immediate humanitarian action amidst ongoing violence. >1. Political Accountability: The backlash he faced from constituents illustrates the difficulty of balancing political responsibilities with moral convictions in Congress. >1. Resilience in Advocacy: Bowman’s determination to continue advocating for justice and equality, despite losing his congressional seat, exemplifies the resilience needed in grassroots movements.

Trump Already Filling Gov’t with Anti-China Warhawks: Is a Showdown Coming?

Edit: summary of video was added under "Key Points"

    ---

    >Key Points: >1. Election Impact: Trump’s election victory reflects public discontent with the Democratic Party’s economic messaging, particularly regarding working-class struggles. The shift suggests a potential pivot in U.S. foreign policy focus. >1. Trade Policies: Trump’s emphasis on tariffs, particularly against China, may lead to inflation and retaliatory measures, complicating U.S. consumer markets and international trade relations. >1. Geopolitical Tensions: The appointment of hardliners in Trump’s administration indicates a stronger likelihood of military confrontation with China, challenging previous diplomatic norms. >1. Economic Strategy: Trump’s neo-mercantilist approach to trade could exacerbate economic divisions and hinder genuine industrial growth in the U.S., highlighting the limitations of protectionism. >1. War Machine Momentum: The U.S. military’s preparations for conflict with China suggest an entrenched war mentality, with significant implications for global stability and security. >1. China’s Resilience: China’s ability to pivot away from U.S. markets showcases its growing self-sufficiency and strategic foresight, challenging the narrative of American hegemony. >1. Potential for Conflict: The intertwining of economic and military strategies raises alarms about the risk of a new Cold War, underlining the importance of diplomacy and dialogue to avert escalating tensions.

[Gamers Nexus] Best CPUs of 2024 (Intel vs. AMD): Gaming, Production, Budget, & Efficiency
  • Key Points:

    1. AMD Ryzen 7 9800 X3D Dominance: This CPU excels in both overall performance and gaming, making it the clear favorite for high-end builds. Its competitive pricing further enhances its appeal.
    2. Gaming Performance Over Everything: The focus on pure gaming metrics reveals AMD’s continued lead in the gaming CPU market, especially with the 9800 X3D outperforming rivals by significant margins.
    3. Balanced Workstation Gaming: The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X provides a solid compromise for users needing both gaming and productivity capabilities, emphasizing the importance of versatility in CPU choice.
    4. Budget Options Are Limited: The sub-$100 CPU market is aging, with few new entries, highlighting the need for better budget offerings to cater to entry-level gamers.
    5. Upgrade Potential: The AMD Ryzen 7 5700 X3D stands out for its compatibility with existing AM4 motherboards, promoting sustainability and cost-effectiveness in upgrades.
    6. Efficiency Gains: The Ryzen 5 7600 X3D showcases impressive efficiency, demonstrating that high performance does not have to come at the cost of high power consumption.
    7. Intel’s Ongoing Struggles: Intel’s recent generations faced significant stability issues, which have eroded consumer confidence, emphasizing the need for reliable product launches in a competitive market.

    Notable comments:

    1. @Loxly-ti4sq | 1 hour ago | The fact that I can use a motherboard from 2017 to run a R7 5700X3D is crazy. Going from R5 3600 to this CPU doubles the framerate on some games, and not to mention the skyrocketing 1% low. As someone who isn't playing at 2k/4k monitor and is rocking a 6700XT for 1080p, I might just wait for AM6 for my next upgrade lol.
    2. @jeffb.6642 | 1 hour ago | It's to the point now that "Stability" needs to be considered when making a CPU purchase, too.
    3. @Kendog | 1 hour ago | I know the best overall gaming CPU is the 9800X3D and the 7800X3D and I haven’t even watched the whole video yet
  • Elizabeth Warren Accuses Tulsi Gabbard Of Being In "Putin's Pocket"

Intelligence Integrity: The integrity of the intelligence community is questioned, suggesting that political motivations often overshadow national security concerns. >1. War vs. Diplomacy: The contrast between Gabbard’s focus on diplomacy and the establishment’s preference for military intervention highlights a fundamental divide in U.S. foreign policy. >1. Historical Context: The current political climate reflects past patterns of labeling dissenters as traitors, echoing McCarthyism and Cold War paranoia. >1. Defense of Dissent: The defense of dissenting views is crucial in a democracy, yet increasingly threatened by partisan attacks like those against Gabbard. >1. Media’s Role: The media’s complicity in amplifying unfounded accusations reveals a troubling trend of sensationalism over factual reporting. >1. Call for Accountability: There is a growing need for accountability in political accusations to maintain the integrity of public discourse and democratic principles.

Government of Mexico's official website claimed by RansomHub gang⤵️
  • Edit: removed hyperlink from gob[dot]mx and replaced . -> [dot]

The Mexican government’s gob[dot]mx website address was posted on the ransomware group’s dark leak blog early morning on Friday.

The Russian-linked cartel claims to have exfiltrated 313 gigabyte of information from the website’s servers.

The gang has set a deadline of ten days for the Mexico’s government to pay an undisclosed ransom demand before publishing the alleged stolen files, which according to the criminals include “Contracts, insurance, financials, confidential files.”

The database sample contains personal information on each employe including the employe’s full name, job title, an color headshot, which government building the employee works at, their email address, phone number extension, and some sort of ID reference number.

RansomHub is a relatively new player in the ransomware ecosystem, having posted its first victim on February 26th, 2024.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the FBI released a joint advisory about the RansomHub gang on August 30th, triggered by its accelerated climb as one of the most active ransomware groups so far this year.

Threat intelligence researchers at Searchlight Cyber say RansomHub is now ”ranked third among the most prolific ransomware groups of H1 2024” and that the gang’s rapid rise suggests “possible connections to established players like BlackCat,” according to the firm's newly released ransomware report.

According to the CISA advisory, which provides a full list of known IOCs, including IP addresses, tools, known URLs, email addresses, and more, the cybercrooks are said to have breached at least 210 victims since February, almost at a rate of one victim per day.

RansomHub victims include various organizations, from critical infrastructure to private corporations in the US, including the oilfield servicing company Halliburton, allegedly breached by the gang in early August, as well as the US drug store chain Rite Aid in July.

RansomHub – thought to be one of the main affiliates connected to ALPHV/BlackCat at the time – claimed to have published a swath of files allegedly part of what was obtained during the Change Healthcare hack.

“Its representatives have been spotted recruiting affiliates on dark web forums, offering a fixed 10 percent fee and the option to collect ransom payments directly from victims before paying the core group.” SearchLight Cyber researchers said.

The Russian-linked ALPHV/BlackCat perpetrated its "exit scam" back in March by “taking the entire [$22 million] ransom payment from Change Healthcare without properly compensating the [RansomHub] affiliate responsible for the attack,” researchers explained.

It's been shown that the group’s setup closely resembles that of a traditional Russian ransomware setup, with the gang avoiding targets in Russia, CIS countries, Cuba, North Korea, and China – typical of Kremlin-backed gangs.

RansomHub breach victims in the first half of 2024 include gaming laptop-maker Clevo, the high-profile Christie’s auction house, and Frontier, the 4th largest high-speed internet provider in the US covering 25 states.

  • Joe Rogan EXPOSES Bari Weiss's Baseless Smears Against Tulsi

    cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/22074492

    > >Key Points: > >1. Lack of Evidence: Weiss’s inability to substantiate her claims about Gabbard illustrates the pervasive issue of evidence-less accusations in political discourse. This trend undermines credible debate. > >1. Deteriorating Discourse: The conversation reveals a troubling shift in political discussions, where accusations are made without foundational reasoning, promoting division rather than dialogue. > >1. Rogan’s Role: Rogan’s inquiry into Weiss’s claims showcases the importance of critical questioning in media, emphasizing accountability for public figures making serious allegations. > >1. Diplomatic Engagement: Gabbard’s meetings with foreign leaders highlight the necessity of diplomatic engagement, challenging the notion that such actions equate to betrayal or complicity. > >1. Historical Context: The comparison of Gabbard’s actions to past U.S. leaders meeting controversial figures illustrates that diplomacy has historically been a tool for peace rather than a sign of loyalty to adversaries. > >1. Media Influence: Weiss’s reliance on media narratives (“everyone knows”) reflects how mainstream media can shape public perception through unverified claims, emphasizing the need for critical media literacy. > >1. Polarizing Narratives: The labeling of individuals who seek dialogue with adversaries as traitorous feeds into a dangerous polarization, undermining nuanced discussions about foreign policy and national security. > > > --- > > >Independent, Unencumbered Analysis and Investigative Reporting, Captive to No Dogma or Faction.

However, the lack of enforcement raises questions about U.S. commitment to human rights. >1. Election Influence: The timing of the ultimatum suggests a strategic move to influence voter sentiment rather than a genuine effort to address humanitarian concerns. >1. Aid Blockade: Israel’s continued blockade has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, indicating a deliberate strategy to control the population in Gaza. >1. U.S. Military Support: The ongoing military support from the U.S. to Israel, despite its actions, reflects a complex geopolitical relationship that prioritizes strategic alliances over humanitarian needs. >1. Congress ERUPTS In Controversy Over Matt Gaetz And Tulsi Gabbard Appointments

    >Key Points: >1. Political Polarization: The stark reactions to the appointments underscore the intense division in U.S. politics, with figures like Elizabeth Warren expressing outrage. This exemplifies how deeply entrenched partisan views can lead to extreme responses. >1. Experience Matters: Gaetz’s appointment raises valid concerns about qualifications, especially given his controversial past. Critics argue that his experience does not align with the responsibilities of Attorney General, highlighting a trend of prioritizing loyalty over competence in political appointments. >1. Military Ties: Gabbard’s military service complicates her nomination, as she has criticized the government while now taking a high-profile role. This juxtaposition raises questions about how personal experiences shape political beliefs and actions. >1. Public Perception: The public’s reaction, particularly on social media, reflects a mix of disbelief and concern, suggesting that Trump’s cabinet choices may not resonate well with many Americans, potentially impacting future elections. >1. Opportunism in Politics: Gabbard’s shift through political parties highlights a broader trend of opportunism in politics, where individuals may change affiliations based on personal gain rather than steadfast principles. >1. Media Scrutiny: The media’s focus on these appointments illustrates the role of journalism in shaping public discourse, often amplifying fears and highlighting divisions within political parties. >1. Potential for Change: Despite the controversies, Gaetz’s past legislative actions suggest he may advocate for some progressive reforms, indicating that not all political figures fit neatly into traditional party lines.

AOC Voters SUPPORTED Trump...Will AOC Run in 2028?

    >Key Points: >1. Populism’s Popularity: The increasing support for populist messages shows that many voters prioritize economic concerns over party loyalty, creating a complex political landscape. >1. Media Engagement: AOC’s lack of engagement with independent media may alienate her supporters who feel unheard, suggesting a shift in strategy is needed. >1. Voter Dynamics: The phenomenon of ticket splitting indicates a more nuanced voter base that seeks candidates who address their specific concerns, regardless of party affiliation. >1. Decreasing Engagement: The drop in voter turnout for AOC signals potential disillusionment with traditional political messaging, highlighting the need for more authentic outreach. >1. Changing Demographics: Shifts in voter demographics in key areas suggest that both parties must adapt to the evolving concerns of constituents to remain relevant. >1. Authenticity Matters: Voters are drawn to candidates perceived as authentic; both AOC and Trump have tapped into this sentiment, regardless of their differing policies. >1. Potential for Future Runs: AOC’s inquiry into Trump voters may indicate her ambition for a presidential run in 2028, positioning herself as a populist alternative within the Democratic Party.

Why Kamala LOST Young Voters w/Jordan Chariton (Interview)

    >Key Points: >1. Declining Youth Engagement: The 7% drop in young voter turnout reflects a growing disconnection between the Democratic Party and younger voters, who feel their needs are ignored. This trend could have long-term implications for future elections as younger generations seek alternatives. >1. Contrast with Sanders: Bernie Sanders’s successful outreach to young voters in 2016 and 2020 highlights the importance of strong, clear economic policies that resonate with this demographic. Harris’s failure to adopt similar strategies demonstrates a missed opportunity. >1. Economic Discontent: Many voters, especially young ones, are frustrated with the current economic climate, which they associate with Democratic leadership. This sentiment poses a challenge for the party if they do not address these core concerns moving forward. >1. Lack of Specificity: Vague campaign messages, such as lacking a defined minimum wage increase, failed to inspire confidence in Harris’s ability to deliver real change, further alienating potential supporters who crave bold, actionable policies. >1. Third-Party Consideration: The rising interest in third-party candidates amongst young voters signals a significant shift in political allegiance and dissatisfaction with the traditional two-party system, emphasizing the need for Democratic candidates to adapt their strategies. >1. Media Influence: The corporate media’s focus on superficial aspects of campaigns, such as celebrity endorsements, detracted from the real issues voters care about, misleading the public regarding candidate support and engagement. >1. Corporate Influence: The Democratic Party’s reliance on corporate funding creates a conflict of interest that alienates the very voters it seeks to attract. Without addressing this issue, the party risks further losing credibility and support among the electorate.

Questionable Loyalty: Sanders’s previous support for Harris raises concerns about the authenticity of his current critiques, suggesting a pattern of political convenience rather than principled opposition. >1. Internal Party Conflict: The responses from Pelosi and Clyburn illustrate a divide within the Democratic Party, emphasizing the challenges of maintaining a cohesive message while addressing internal criticisms. >1. Long-Term Systemic Issues: The ongoing critique of corporate influence points to a need for long-term systemic change rather than temporary solutions, highlighting the limitations of current political strategies. >1. Joe Rogan EXPOSES Bari Weiss's Baseless Smears Against Tulsi

    >Key Points: >1.

Harris Raised $1 Billion. Where Did it All Go?
  • The Harris campaign finished out the race with at least $20 million in debt, two sources familiar told Politico’s Christopher Cadelago, who wrote on X Wednesday night that of the $1 billion Harris had raised, only $118 million remained in cash as of October 16.

“We spent money in stupid ways because we had a really bad strategy,” a former consultant to the DNC told Puck’s Tara Palmeri. He cited money sent to fund Representative Colin Allred’s failed challenge against Texas Senator Ted Cruz, as well as money directed to help in Iowa, a state Democrats never, ever win.

Inside Harris’s crumbled campaign, some feel that they were misled about her chances, and led to believe it would be a margin-of-error race. In reality, Trump blew apart Harris’s play for the blue wall states and beat her by more than four million votes.

Harris’s campaign budget was closely guarded by campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon, so it’s unclear exactly how funds were allocated. An official for the DNC said that the majority of campaign spending was toward major events, paid media, and Harris’s supposedly expansive ground game—one that ultimately didn’t drum up that many votes at all.

What’s clear is that Harris ran a very expensive campaign, one that dwarfed Donald Trump’s efforts. The campaign spent an average of $7.5 million a day in August, in comparison to the $2.7 million that Trump spent. In September, the Harris campaign spent $152 million on advertising, more than double the $63 million that Trump shelled out.

Unfortunately for Harris, dollars didn’t seem to translate into votes. And even after Harris lost, her campaign is still sending out slates of fundraising requests.

  • R.E.M. - It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) [1987]
  • “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)”, stylized as ITEOTWAWKI(AIFF), features stream-of-consciousness lyrics that border on a rant, encompassing a wide variety of references. For example, four famous people with the initials LB are mentioned throughout the song, and the only explanation Michael Stipe has given is that he had a dream the four of them appeared in.

Overall, it decries various aspects of society that Stipe has a problem with. It does so with rapid-fire references to religion, media, patriotism, the Soviet Union, continental drift, and more. As a result, it’s hard to follow the song without a copy of the lyrics (and these annotations).

An early precursor to this song was an outtake from the band’s 1986 album, Lifes Rich Pageant, called “PSA (Bad Day)” – in 2003 a reworked version of the song was released as the single “Bad Day”, drawing ironic and inaccurate charges of being derivative, though it is a completely different song.^[[1] https://genius.com/Rem-its-the-end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it-and-i-feel-fine-lyrics]

  • Black people across US receive racist text messages after Trump’s win
  • “The FBI is aware of the offensive and racist text messages sent to individuals around the country and is in contact with the Justice Department and other federal authorities on the matter,” the FBI said on Thursday.

    FBI Link: https://www.fbi.gov/news/press-releases/fbi-statement-on-offensive-and-racist-text-messages

Brian Hughes, of the Trump campaign, told NBC that they would take legal action “if we can find the origin of these messages which promote this kind of ugliness in our name.

“President Trump built a diverse and broad coalition of support, with voters of all races and backgrounds,” he said in a statement to NBC. “The result was a landslide victory for his commonsense mandate for change. This will result in a second term that is beneficial to every working man and woman in our nation.”

  • Dems Blame Latino and Black Voters For Kamala's Loss [16:50 | NOV 07 24 | Glenn Greenwald]
  • Yes, it seems like they would rather lose and keep pushing for the status quo than listen to the working class.

  • Is it possible to see a list of communities?
  • Edit: not sure about sync

    Communities on Lemmy World: https://lemmy.world/communities

    Edit2:

    Just got sync for Lemmy

  • Don’t Blame...
  • The duopoly will continue the status quo.

Building up the grassroots movement that is for the working class should not stop.

  • Will Trump release the JFK files or will he break his promise again?
  • I don't believe the duopoly.

I think he will break his promise of releasing the JFK files.

  • Unofficial results show Harris LOSING in Dearborn to @DrJillStein in precincts where Biden won in a landslide & where Workers Strike Back has been campaigning with Arab & Muslim voters. To fight Trump
  • It is the Democrats fault for not listening to the working-class struggles and the protestors that are against funding the proxy wars and genocide.

Check out a foreign lobby group that is ignored by the duopoly; it is called AIPAC. They fund many politicians and have a lot of control over our foreign policy as well.

  • This can't be real can it?
  • It seems to just help divide the working class and to continue to increase tribalism.

    You do you!
