3.8 Spiral Abyss difficultly
  • Yup, it's a much welcome respite, but I'll spend all of it farming upgrades for my core units because I don't trust Hoyo to not pull another 3.7 on us soon. Won't hurt to be fully prepared.

  • Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon • My Happy Marriage - Episode 2 discussion
  • Lovely show so far, but I'll be a bit disappointed if Miyo never develops any supernatural powers. Her being talentless was an important initial plot device, but now it's been cashed in so I hope she gets a magic of her own to match her fiance and archrival.

  • [Announcement] Next Expansion Release Date
  • With regular PoE by now offering a good experience on handheld PCs, be it a Steam Deck, GPD4/Max2, ROG Ally or a random tablet with Joy-Cons taped on, I'm curious to see how GGG intends to make a smartphone-based PoE stand out.

  • Subjectively, how are modern Intel UHD or Iris Xe Graphics for mild gaming on an Ubuntu based distro?
  • I'm having a good time even on an 11th gen mobile Intel processor with its iGPU. For more demanding games I use FSR to get much more bang for buck from the iGPU, on Linux it's pretty easy to activate in almost any game. On a side note, Waydroid (with libhoudini) also has excellent performance on this setup.

  • What role do you think this character from the Fontaine teaser will play?

This character is important enough to be the star of the official teaser, but doesn't match anything known from leaks – and these by now paint a pretty complete picture of Fontaine's playable roster. What are your speculations and expectations regarding this character's role, playable or otherwise?

How does everyone feel about Oneplus phones?
  • My OnePlus 6 is just short of 4 full years of use, with LineageOS of course. It's been great and I'd keep it for another few years if I were able to buy a new, genuine replacement battery; all the vendors I see offering one are dubious. The OP6 has excellent hardware for the price I paid for it back in 2019, excellent software thanks to LineageOS support, all while having Dual SIM/microSD (shared slot, used for second SIM by me) and a headphone jack. Earlier, my daily driver was a OnePlus X which I was also happy with for the same reasons. Now that 4 years of battery wear are pushing me towards replacement, I will jump ship only because newer OnePlus phones have impractical display aspect ratios, way too long and narrow for my needs; I consider a phone's display to be as good as the largest 16:9 rectangle that can fit into it.

  • The Linux coders turning the ROG Ally and other handhelds into Steam Deck clones
  • There are good things to be said about the Ally, but I find the soon-to-be-released GPD handhelds more interesting. Both are officially stated to support SteamOS (which means plain Arch and possibly other distros should also work great) and offer something different from the Deck and Ally in that the GPD Win4 is much more compact, and the GPD Max 2 has a much larger display.

  • What is the status of Magisk? How to hide root?
  • LineageOS is great even without root, but I still recommend using Magisk on it for system-wide ad blocking (via e.g. AdAway) if nothing else.

A banking app may have a simple root check, or a SafetyNet check. You can use shamiko and safetynet-fix respectively to fool these, both have already been linked.

  • What upcoming seasonal anime are you most excited about?
  • Spy Kyoushitsu 2nd cour. First one was fun, especially in the "manor" arc that concluded it. Other than that, I have high hopes for Zom 100, since it gives off Zombieland Saga vibes and that series had no shortage of great scenes in either season.

important message to google, samsung, all android phone manufactures
  • I love larger displays. Easy on the eyes, better gaming and video experience. Still, on many newer phones aspect ratio is a problem for me. If the phone's screen is something like 21:9 then it's only really big on paper, since videos won't fit perfectly, and the text and UI elements of games I play would still be pretty small, since they scale with the screen's height in landscape mode.

  • Let's talk QoL, on the build level

Lack of QoL features is a common complaint about the game, and by now many of us are veterans who have been playing for years and want to avoid facing the same inconveniences each new league. What steps do y'all take in terms of build choice and playstyle to have a smooth experience despite Chris' stubborn anti-QoL stance?

    • Do you always stick to builds that can do any and all map mods, so you don't even have to read map descriptions?
    • Do you consider self-recharging flasks (Pathfinder, Ascendant, some exotic sources) a must-have?
    • To what degree do you automate flasks with Instilling Orbs? How many manually-managed flasks is too much?
    • How many braindead instant-cast buffs like Arcane Cloak is too much? Do you use left mouse to move while also casting such a buff, or do you prefer to keyboard movement regardless?
    • How much build DPS are you willing to sacrifice for QoL?
    • Is there any particular content that is lucrative but skipped by you because of its poor QoL?

Share your thoughts, and your tips for comfortable gameplay when returning for yet another league!
