Can you Americans pass the test?
  • The Bay of Biscay. It was notorious when I were a lad. More ferries back then I suppose.

  • well as the Pound collapsed after Brexit it shouldn't make much difference.

  • Article: We failed Amy Winehouse
  • I felt that the media's treatment of Cobain and Winehouse both flipped the usual gender narrative, at least if what she says is true. Cobain was cared about and treated with concern while Winehouse was seen as a joke, somewhat like Gazza (British former footballer Paul Gascoigne, known for his alcohol-fuelled decline and very much left to it). I don't really remember Cobain, but in the late 2000s it was clear that Amy was on a very self-destructive path and nobody was going to care until she wound up dead.

  • Walked to the village (i.e. in the opposite direction to the town), got a takeaway iced coffee. By the time I got home it was no longer iced coffee weather (=raining). Working this afternoon - working days this week are Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

  • What streaming services do you pay for?
  • Nebula. I did have Spotify but got fed up with not being able to regulate its 'suggested content' list. It was mostly about podcasts for me so I now use a different podcast platform.

  • ULPT: Find and befriend your co-workers that don't drink, because if there's ever a work function with drink tickets, you can try to get theirs.
  • Drink tickets should also cover non-alcoholic drinks for those who don't drink alcohol. Otherwise it discriminates against non-drinkers and could be indirect discrimination against, say, Muslims.

  • If you try crossing one on a Brompton you get about half way. That's what I found.

  • or Vimeo setting up a more 'community'-oriented form of itself, with free uploads etc. Or Flickr going in for long-form video. Could something like that rival YT?
