The other angle I haven't seen suggested here is that this is a forward-looking insurance play from Horner. At the moment RBPT are winning off the back of development work done by Honda in previous years. Nonetheless, they are new to the engine game and there is likely some substantial concern that when the next engine regs come they will be left floundering.
By backing the equalisation they give themselves precedent to demand the same again a few years down the line if RB engines fall behind the pack. They are likely very confident in the rest of their current package, to the point that they can risk making the current situation more competitive in order to guard against future disaster.
I don't especially like Horner, but I think it's hard to argue that he's anything but an excellent team principle, possibly the best on the grid. If he's doing this there is zero chance it's for altruistic reasons - there is a play for RB here somewhere, it's just a case of figuring out what it is.
Actually quite like Fedditors. Acknowledges where most of us came from, while being something different. Can also be interpreted as 'feck-reddit-ors'. Is good.
I'm so glad they've filmed it... I read the graphic novel last year completely at random (someone bought it for my daughter & I thought it looked interesting)... still, it seemed quite obscure & I couldn't believe it when I was listening to a movie podcast and a review of it came on. It's a great story and I can't wait to see it on the big screen.
I can't believe no-one has mentioned Chuck Feeney.
He's prettymuch the answer to the OP's question: Can you be super rich and a good person? Yes, but you prettymuch have to make it your life's work to not be super rich any more.
This, but since 1990. 4 notable dominant periods since then (Schuey, Seb, Lewis & now Max), but I've never stopped enjoying it. The dominance never lasts forever. Focus on the midfield & there's always entertainment to be had.
Get an VPN & F1TV... I'm in the UK but I refuse to give a penny to Murdoch & the channel 4 coverage is compromised of course.
Getting F1TV has completely revolutionised my F1 watching. Being able to watch easily, with time shift if needed, & no streaming stress. The commentary is even better imho (though you can choose the Sky feed if you miss Martin & Crofty). The pundits are better too. And you can watch any in car view at any time. It's worth every penny.
This is so stupid it's barely believable. Like, he's made some (many) bad moves, but this is literal platform suicide if it isn't reversed immidiately.
Totally. Had the shoe been on the other foot he would be saying that it was 'just racing'.
The Rockford Files! That phone rings then it's just 2 minutes of unmitigated joy
It would be extremely funny if Meta spent a shit load of money buying a bunch of large fediverse instances then everyone just immidiately migrated to other instances and defederated them.
Such a great effort for Albon... easy DotD, and huge for Williams in the lower WCC battle. Hope it's a sign that the Williams upgrades are decent & we may see more of it.
Russell cracked under the pressure of trying to stay on the back of Alonso... absolutely insane that the car almost finished the race after that hit... I was surprised it finished the lap! F1 cars are made of strong stuff these days.
Max mega as ever... ominous that Newey appears to be fully invested in F1 again after a few years where he seemed to drift away.
Just for a racer's natural will to race I guess.... I suppose if he had got ahead with a couple of laps to go he could've pulled a second or two out and hope that the cars got backed up behind so he could squeeze 10th
Just another to confirm, I'm very much not rooted, and very much using Revanced every day
Long time reddit user... haven't been back since the protest started and don't feel the need to for now at least.
I'm already reasonably confident that in the near future kbin/lemmy may well be able to fulfil the 'idle browsing & keeping up with various interests' portion of my Reddit use. And that was probably 95% of my Reddit time, so that's good news.
I'm more concerned about the other 5% - the 'Reddit as a vast repository of knowledge on how to do/fix/buy/make/etc so many things'... it could take years for the federated alternatives to achieve anything like Reddit's position there, and there's a question over how easily searchable it will be. Still, hopefully it'll come with time.
I think Max's lower aggression is probably a result of just not needing too. He's barely had to go wheel to wheel for the last year and a half - why bother doing anything risky when you can just wait a lap or two and destroy any other car on the grid under DRS. If/when another team gets close then I'm sure 'borderline Max' will make a return.
And yeah, he's not clumsy by any means, he just has that "you concede or we crash" mentality.
If anything, you're probaby more likely to see the English, Scottish or Welsh (or NIish I assume, but never been there) flags than the Union Jack. Because the different nations have their own football teams (and other sports too), so they come out for the big international tournaments and some stay flying in between.
I'm no Red Bull fan, but of course they shouldn't. They can can gradually tweak things between seasons to try to bring more competition at the top, but mid-season would just destroy the little credibility that the FIA has left.
Stroll for sure, Max maybe? (he's obviously great, but his wheel to wheel style has undeniably been... dubious... in the past)... third one maybe KMag... I like him, but he does tend to go a bit crazy, especially in early laps.
Agree that George could probaby put himself on this list tbh
This is the future conservatives want
