  • I do play FPS games, but not on controller. Beyond that I can't really say - there was nothing that grabbed me in 30 minutes of playtime, and every other metroid game had at least something interesting at the beginning with some intrigue. With Prime, it seemed like the Interesting Thing were the mechanics themselves, which, on their own, didn't do it for me.

  • What Android games do you play to kill time?
  • I find mobile games to be a crapshoot, and I've only ever found a select few hidden gems that are exceptions:

    • Armory & Machine, an incremental game. Avoid the sequel.
    • Underhand, a card game good enough for people who don't like card games.
  • All Tomb Raider games are on sale on Steam. If you like action/exploration games and you know what else, some of the best ones are on sale for less than a dollar!
  • start with tomb raider 2013. these games are very long, I'm not sure if shadow of the tomb raider didn't feel as good because it was actually a worse game or just more of the same. I remember thinking it was fine but was a bit burnt out.

lara's origin story in the first one is very good

  • Startups are using remote work to attract talent; report: 81% of companies with fewer than 5K employees offer remote work vs. 26% for those with 25K+ employees
  • Those assumptions are being made because there are several red flags in the post.

"I need them to be in the office to work" suggests this is not their choice, it is the employer's choice and they have no real option to freely choose, despite being completely able to with their work call app /meeting rooms with cameras and mics etc.

They have an option only if they have a good reason like their having to watch their kids, this also suggests they cannot just freely choose to. They are required to provide a reason beyond basic convenience to work from home.

"They have no complaints" suggests they aren't being given the option and need to provide a reason or contest an argument with them about WFH being easier on everyone.

The suggestion that "they are paid pretty well" indicates this has some bearing on working from home vs the office, but to me this reads as "this is compensation so we can have them come into the office".

Whether they are paid well shouldn't even come into question - can they work from home or not?

Tell them they can work from home full time and come into the office whenever they want. Do they come in or do they stay at home?

Can they not collaborate over slack/teams/chat/video call and post shared docs like we were forced to do during covid time?

If they legitimately cannot, fine - go into the office. But we have to get rid of this paranoia that employees need to be in the office unless there is a very specific in-person absolute requirement to be there.

Collaboration/camaraderie is a known common excuse managers use that often doesn't make sense.

  • I am hugely into the 2D Metroid games and bought the new Metroid Prime remake on switch and I just could not get into it.

I played it for about half an hour and then died, and there were no save points along the way anywhere, so I'm forced to restart a game I didn't enjoy from scratch knowing I need to last even longer than that in my next playthrough before I can just save the game.

I really want to like it but my god this game is asking a lot

Deep Rock Galactic VR mod now allows play with non-VR teammates

VRG is now a verified mod

This means that you can now join any un-modded server in VR, and other players will not see your game as modded since the mod is now fully client-side.

  • Why wouldn't the reddit mods want to redirect users here?

They only point to discord, and users on that discord, in the #reddit-implosion channel, don't seem to be interested in being affiliated with the subreddit.

  • For everyone new to Lemmy, how are you finding the experience?
  • It seems that there's some missing middle-management link conversion that someone needs to release.

If someone makes a post saying (and I'm making up links here, don't click them) - there's a new reddit-equivalent community at https://lemmy.world/c/whatever come join! ....that's only telling us half the story.

So newbies click this link and oh they have to create a lemmy.world account? What about if they already created a lemmy.one account? Do they need multiple accounts? We know they don't, but they don't know that yet.

Even experienced users can't make use of that link at all, and this is the crux of the issue. Every link given out has to be some sort of [email protected]ce variant. And you have to manually search for that or manually enter it. It's 2023 and this renders your hyperlink unclickable and that much trickier to use.

On mobile I assume it's even harder, or even mobile-to-desktop or desktop-to-mobile.

There needs to be a one-click way to subscribe to communities using the instance you're logged into without all the back and forth.
