The Relegated Venus: Situation Of Afro-Mexican Women
  • Interesting. I think the average Mexican has close to 0 contact with to Africanmexicans, k think most of them are in coastal towns or cities. It won't surprise me if there are some people who has never seen one. So it makes sense that most of them are segregated. But it got me curious why should there be a specific policy to combat afro-Mexican women instead of just afro-Mexican people.

  • What's an industry that's known to treat its workers very well?
  • Yeah when I read the question, "construction" is definitely not one of the things that came to my mind. The work is simply too demanding, so many people involved, deadlines, work under the sun, in general I think building is hard work. I can see a structural engineer or consultant having a nice life-balance tho.

  • Why do Gezendong-style-tankies support Putin and Xi-Xinpin so much ?
  • Comparing China to Russia is laughable. I know this doesn't answer your question but I always find interesting when certain people make this this type of comparison.

One has a competent government the other doesn't.

  • There's plenty of info of African leaders thanking China approach in Africa. African leaders are not dumb , if China offers a better credit card and infrastructure plans than some western countries they will choose that. Yes, it's that simple.

  • Coming from RIF, what is your favorite Lemmy app?
  • I appreciate Jerboa being open source but even before the issue with reddit.world I had constant crashes while reading and it didn't make a pleasant experience. My intention was never to talk on behalf of Jerboa users but to give my personal opinion. In fact, Jerboa gave me a pretty good first impression but after trying other options I do prefer the alternatives.

Coming from RIF, what is your favorite Lemmy app?

After saying goodbye to RIF and reddit, it's time for me to move on. So far I've used 4 apps for Lemmy and this is my personal ranking:

    1. wefwef.app. Very clean design, works well and smooth experience. Overall the best implementation so far.

    2. Connect/Liftoff (tied). Both are solid, I prefer Connect's sidebar and options but I prefer the design of the posts and comments on Liftoff. When the comments stack in Connect it looks awful IMO.

    3. Jerboa. As a first option it was good but after so many timeouts, other design issues and multiple errors I kinda gave up on the app. After its polished I'll give it another try. > ___

  • What's your favorite non-chinese restaurant?

As a Mexican I've tried multiple restaurants and bars in Beijing, and there are some nice places but nothing too crazy. One of my favorites was eating quesabirrias in Taco Go. But I recently went to a restaurant in Shanghai called "Chihuahua" and it was seriously good and authentic, and I ended up eating like a pig lol. I wonder if you had a similar experience from a restaurant from your own country?

    Welcome RIF users
  • I use to like Jerboa, but after several timeouts, not differentiating between instances, and multiple errors I gave others a try. I downloaded wefwef.app and I've been liking it so far. I think I'll be using it until a polished native version comes out.

  • Which part of China are you right now?

Hello everyone! The weather is so nice in Beijing and air quality (AQI 48) is decent right now. How is everyone feeling/doing?
