  • First time picking up some Polar thanks to you guys
  • Almost all consumer grade products have PFAs or something close to it. There are a lot of seltzers you can drink still if you are worried about PFAS. San Pelligrino, La Croix, Perrier, Spindrift, etc (minimal to no PFAs).

They way I see it though - don't let the alarmism of something like PFAs render you paralyzed otherwise you may die from a stress related heart attack before the PFAs get you.

  • Tired of expensive SodaStream refills and weak carbonation?
  • That's fair - I'm sure it tastes amazing when mixed just right. My lazy ass wants to flavor injected automatically though. Separate flavor injector and tube and then mixing step, something like that.

  • La Croix - LimonCello, does anyone actually like this one?
  • Any chance you are Italian? I have a theory that this flavor hits a specific demographic.

  • Recommend a non flavored seltzer or club soda, please.
  • I've tried a lot and I still think San Pellegrino is a winner. The bit of mineralization and how bubbly it is ... is perfect IMO. I used to drink the full 1L by myself in one go.

  • First time picking up some Polar thanks to you guys
  • Raspberry Lime is definitely one of the top flavors. Good choice! I always recommend Black Cherry, Mixer Berry, and Ginger Lime Mule to folks. And if you like citrus Mandarin is hard to beat. Let us know what else you try out!

  • Liquid Death - Part II, Severed Lime

The Mango Chainsaw is better BUT I still really like the lime. It reminds me of a mojito - I love mojitos.

    • Flavor Taste 7.5
    • Flavor Intensity 5
    • Carbonation **Low, Subtle Notes of… lime, the agave, and I swear I can taste of hint of mint but I think my brain is playing tricks on me. In the end it's like a light flavoring of virgin mojito.

    Definitely getting this one again.

Liquid Death - Part I, Mango Chainsaw

I can't believe I didn't know about these flavors before.

The Mango Chainsaw is pretty amazing, however, this seltzer has some sugars in it. This brings about the question: at what point can you call a drink a seltzer and at what point does it become a juice / soda type drink? A debate for another day maybe.

    • Flavor Taste 8
    • Flavor Intensity 5
    • Carbonation Low, Subtle
    • Notes of... it's slightly tangy, definitely tropical, kind of has a pineapple/mango almost hint of bubble gum flavor to it (reminds me a tad of Red Bull).

Definitely will buy again and will be bringing this to group gatherings where people want you to look like the rest of the cool hipster beer drinkers.

La Croix - LimonCello, does anyone actually like this one?

It tastes like lemon pie. I don't like drinking pies. Who thought this one was a good idea?

    • Flavor Taste 3
    • Flavor Intensity 8
    • Notes of… key LEMON pie? Bizarre. I'm sure there are people who like these flavors - not for me.

What is my next Seltzer purchase?

Seriously, what should I buy in bulk and try? I have an indecision complex.

P.S. get ready for me to trash your selections in reviews.

Still trying to work out if I should bother a longer seasoning cycle to disappear those "milky spots" on the inner edge of the pan. But doesn't effect my cooking right now so I'm not worried about it.

Why should I be a fan of the NY Giants?

My Dad was a big fan of the NY Giants. I never understood why he was so into them besides the fact that we lived next to the meadowlands... and maybe that's enough of a reason.

But... I want to like them... What are reasons to be a fan of the Giants?

Had my first migraine since creating the community

This is an attempt to figure out what caused it. It is also an example of how it's pretty difficult to figure out what actually causes a migraine from day to day.

Slept from 12 to 9:30AM. Breakfast was French Toast and Eggs. Skipped Coffee. Went swimming out in the sun for about an hour (had sunscreen on). First started feeling a headache and getting dizzy and progressed into a migraine - 11:30AM. Had pizza and root beer for lunch. Took a midday nap for about an hour at 12:30PM. Woke up with throbbing migraine. Took Aleve. Drank 1000ml of water (not that that helps really). Drank a cup of coffee. Migraine went away at about 2PM.

If I take Aleve quickly enough I can usually stop a migraine within an hour or two. If I take it too late then the Aleve does nothing and the migraine can sometimes last until the next day.

Why does this timeline matter? It matters because it's an example of how anything could have caused the migraine especially when there are so many confounding factors at play.

    1. Woke up later than usual.
    2. Didn't drink my normal coffee in the morning, withdrawal/craving?
    3. Out in the sun too long?
    4. I had sunscreen on, sensitivity to the sunscreen chemicals?
    5. Didn't eat enough for breakfast + craving more substantial food, needing to eat lunch earlier?
    6. Something else entirely not listed here?

Sometimes you just can't figure it out - you just gotta take the meds quickly and move on.

La Croix - Lime, tastes great with pizza on a summer day

I drank 4 of these today. They hit the spot. But they are nowhere near as good as Polar's Ginger Lime Mule flavor.

    • Flavor Taste 8.5
    • Flavor Intensity 6
    • Notes of… lime. Are you surprised?

I will keep posting pictures of random seltzer I drink even if it drives everyone out of this community. 😆

    La Croix - Pamplemousse

My favorite La Croix flavor at the moment. Enjoying one while setting up some Lemmy communities.

    • Flavor Taste 9.5
    • Flavor Intensity 6
    • Notes of... fucking Pamplemousse, basically Grapefruit. This isn't wine tasting.
