What is the best way to host/upload gifs/mp4s/videos for Lemmy posts?
My major struggle with Lemmy right now is that it is near impossible to post a video/gif/mp4 without having another account on a hosting provider. Reddit handled this very well, and I am concerned that if there isn't an easy solution on Lemmy, it won't work for many people as an alternative to Reddit.
For example, I made a few video/gif memes. I couldn't upload the mp4 or gif version to any of the 3 instances I joined. I went to imgur, but it requires a log in, and the link takes you to my profile. I tried giphy and another gif hosting site, but there is time/size limits.
Am I missing something? I know storage isn't free/unlimited on Lemmy, I totally get that the people hosting instnaces have server costs and shouldn't foot the bill...but something's got to give.

It is a really nice theming option for Pixels, I honestly pick my home screen apps based on whether they have the icon.

No worries. I know devs are scrambling to make a quality app, and doing it at insane pace. I am sure it will get worked out and I will try it again at that time. My use case is probably not as common as others, so I am sure there are plenty of more critical things getting worked on.
I tried Liftoff and really liked it - I had one issue that keeps me from using it as my primary - I submitted a bug report on github. (#164)

(Discussion) Would you pay for Reddit Premium IF it allowed you to continue using your favorite app?
I keep thinking this would have been a much better sell to devs and to users. I have always used Sync, and Boost. I tried the official app a few times, but really only used it for the chat feature. I didn't want to pay for it, but (I am embarrassed to admit it) I would pay premium to keep my app. I think this would have worked out better for Reddit than the garbage they are pulling right now.
Would that have been a more reasonable solution in your opinion as well?
