I also wonder how many instances are just hosted on some old desktop sitting in a tangle of wires in the basement.
There needs to be durable instance backup/migration tools available to moderators of these communities.
I imagine that'll eventually get done with the limited dev time Lemmy is working with here, but it's still worth considering for a new community.
It's clunky and kinda empty right now, but hopefully it'll get better.
Definitely needs a bunch of content that isn't "Reddit sucks."
I can still see Moscow street cams.
But I'm guessing internet is going down anywhere near PMC positions, since I haven't seen any new wagner footage in a while.
When your feed stops being broke I'd guess.
Both of my vehicles have been hit multiple times when parked, I can't imagine buying something shiney and new and trying to keep it that way.
My last car was even totalled in a parking lot while I was in a meeting. That was a bit annoying.
The landing page at join-lemmy.org should lead straight into active content, and then let users choose an instance once they're ready.
I am particularly motivated to ditch Reddit and yet the first time I saw that page I figured I was going to need to configure a bunch of shit to get started.
So that's one major issue that needs to be addressed. I'm sure it will be in time.
Thanks!
What software did you use to create the covers?
I've been printing a ton lately, but I haven't gotten into inlaying different colors or custom text.
I can research it myself, but it would be helpful to have a software recommendation to get started.
I'm in the process of deleting all my comments but it's taking a while.
I've got probably 100k karma over a few accounts.
I feel kinda bad about taking away all the technical help and collaborative type stuff I've done over the years, but... Reddit wants to use all that data to cash out on it's users, so it has to go.
The fediverse is basically just a bunch of Reddits that can all work with each other.
It needs some streamlining work, but it's heading in the right direction.
My comments are processing to do the same now.
Thousands of comments, so gonna take a while.
3 posts and 11 comments over 5 days.
I wouldn't exactly call that active.
