I refuse to fix anything for my inlaws without them watching me. I make them watch me Google the solutions and follow the instructions. It helps reinforce the "it's not magic and I'm not a wizard" reality I want to instill in everyone.
I couldn't figure it out from the bit of the article i could see before the pay wall, but is it stated who they license the content from?
Many times these things are licensed in bundles (especially likely if they all showed up on the service at the same time) and they may not have been able to repurchase the license. It wouldn't surprise me if alot of that content is in flux with all the creators/businesses being killed/destroyed.
Is it possible they just decided to nix all that content during the moment in history it's most likely to be viewed outside of its previously very small audience? Sure. It just feels like there's probably something else going on here.
Oh Jeffrey.... that's not how you're aupposed to run a newspaper.
He's making entertainment. But he also pushed back on him alot, or at least he used to. He really lets people go off though because it's a 3 hour talk. He doesn't have to keep them on track or concise. There are lots of episodes where crackpots come on and the reaction isn't "this guy is right".
It is a really long format show to watch and actually get context for if you don't enjoy him at all. Too many people consider him a monster just from snippets or articles, which is why I wish people would chill with the hyperbolic claims.
He's friendly with people who are nice to him and help him provide good content for his audience. Unfortunately, the more he's villianized the more that becomes exclusively right wing shills. He's not just gonna stop the show because the people willing to book skew right. He was booking Elon before he became so publicly problematic. He is also the reason Neil deGrasse Tyson was popularized. And he has research paper authors on fairly regularly. It's a mixed bag.
These kind of headlines really make us look like crackpot to the right. Joe Rogan is not one of the worst people ever.
He's a self interested comedian and Podcaster who platforms people indiscriminately. The conservatives have made themselves available to him, and he has shows to make. He has plenty of liberal guests that don't get confrontational or hostile interviews and most of his personal politics are pretty liberal.
Rush Limbagh, Alex Jones, Bill O'Reilly were all actually conservative right wing monsters.
Yeah I just don't like the feel of dirt grit and bugs in my teeth.
If your guy feels like showing up to those meetings they are an extremely rare exception. There is no rule that they be present, they just must feel like voicing their opinion.
Ewww I would never want fire chiefs elected. Also you're just wrong in basically every assumption you make about how decisions get made.
His wealth is largely tied up in assets. A billion would hurt a great deal
Oh nice! He's gonna get sued.
There are lots of articles where I go "I don't give a shit." And I keep it to myself and scroll on. This one makes me actually ask "Who gives a shit?" In a legitimately curious capacity.
Like of all the low stakes, nothing burger, things to ban or get concerned about being banned. It's just too weird for my comprehension.
His show was a cultural phenomenon. You've never heard of the least funny comedian. Let's stop the weird Lemmy contrarianism. It makes us look more insanely out of touch than Jerry Seinfeld. (Which is so well known his name is in my auto-correct).
He's a self professed degenerate, and wealthy to boot. He doesn't give a shit what any of us think.
It's nice his dad called and gave him shit though, since his audience is more toxic than he is and he shouldn't be feeding them like that.
I've seen enough of his content to know he's usually pretty quick to shut down talk just like what he got in trouble for so I don't know what got into him that day.
As i got older, I cared more. I uses to listen politely, then I started to look forward to hearing about my friends and family lives. Now I'm one of those guys who calls to ask for updates. 😆
Man of God, everyone...
So what're they gonna do about it?
I think an often overlooked group of Americans are those that just don't give a shit about the middle east. From their perspective it full of assholes led by groups that hurt women and minorities. Religious kooks that are constantly commiting acts of terrorism around the world, and actively regressing year after year. Every attempt to "help" in the area makes everything worse.
I'm from a hugely diverse, well educated, part of the US and growing up the same joke about the middle east was used for the last 40 years. "They should just glass the whole region if they ever want to see peace in the middle east."
It goes without saying everything about that is terrible.
The more well known something is, the more criticism it will receive. Also with movie prices going up and Disney reminding everyone each year how little they care about fans, it's not a surprise people have cooled on their decade old properties.
They are also spending more to make objectively less exciting projects. When the first Avengers movies were coming out it was impressive how well they brought comics to life. It's not impressive any more with so many examples, so they aren't pushing the bounds of expectations anymore. They have to wow people now with writing and performances.
I think the decision makers are also making more diversity choices (in the wrong way) and have the PR teams talk too much about how proud they are of their DEI choices instead of how they like the movie they made.
Black Nick Fury is best Nick Fury. Black Panther was incredibly well received. I felt like Moonknoght was better received than I was expecting. Miles Morales was a very popular Spiderman iteration. So I don't think it's just racism.
They just need to acknowledge who's actually buying tickets. It sometimes feels like the same complaints people make about the WNBA not making a bunch of money.
It's the UN. Why does it fall on the US to do anything while all of the EU kicks back and does nothing as well? Defend your people.
Has anyone else noticed Zip-locks have changed?
I've noticed that every product I've bought in the past year with a zip-lock seal is destroyed with common use. I actually think the zip-lock itself has gotten stronger. The bag rips before the seal opens on half the bags now and whenever I try to opens bags I had no issues with before, I find myself stretching/warping the plastic before the seal eventually opens.
It's pretty frustrating and I am seeing it across many products. Cheese bags, storage bags, snacks etc...
