USA President term limits
  • They probably won't get rid of elections... they'll just have sham elections like Russia has to give the impression of "legitimacy" but I guarantee they'll be heavily rigged in their favor.

  • Elon Musk's PAC spent an estimated $200 million to help elect Trump, AP source says
  • only $70 billion showing on the books so far

Are they not finished banning books yet? I'm sure that one's on the list as well.

  • Filters and blocks don't work when not logged in. Is this intended?
  • The block list is per user. No user, no blocklist.

You could just use "all" in your sorting while logged in, and your blocklist will still work.

  • Canada Anti-Trans Legislative Risk Map
  • Even as someone born and raised there I wouldn't really recommend it.

Some of the surrounding communities are much nicer and cheaper though... and you don't even have to worry about getting your shit stolen.. as much.

  • What song did you love until you found out what it was about?
  • When I first heard it my brain convinced me that the lyrics were "Snap my Picture" for some reason.

    Then I saw the video.

  • RFK Jr. says a Trump White House would immediately push to remove fluoride from water
  • .. And it literally actually says it's not a concern.

  • What features would you like added to Lemmy itself?
  • I'd love to see something similar to reddit enhancement suite.

  • "Better with age" has its limits.
  • I agree... I have an unopened bottle of beer from 1975, just by looking at it I can tell that its "better with age" window is long gone. (Note the sediment buildup at the bottom)

  • Mike Johnson’s running for his life – and possibly Trump’s – this election
  • My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

  • Drop your most "wtf that's not how the world works" from movies/tv shows.
  • Pouring gas over everything and lighting it by tossing a lit cigarette into the puddle. It does not work that way.

  • Vance, in Joe Rogan interview, predicts Trump will win 'the normal gay guy vote'
  • If that were even remotely true they wouldn't be pulling all the underhanded tactics to discredit the election... but hey! Gotta look legit I guess even though their entire castle is made out of cardboard.

  • The Future
  • Still too pricey for my liking.

  • Donald Trump climbs into garbage truck in stunt to call out Biden, Harris
  • I thought the garbage truck was just him taking the family out for a cruise.

  • A baseless voting claim is being amplified by a network of social media accounts
  • To sow doubt to fit their narrative that when they lose the election it was rigged against them.

The right is literally at war with democracy, except instead of guns they're flinging bullshit.

  • Now that it's getting cooler
  • To be fair a lot of wells didn't/don't have good water either but we were not very good at testing or noticing that kind of thing until people started dropping.

  • Now that it's getting cooler
  • You're correct, but I just want to point out that it isn't advisable to drink or cook with water that comes from your hot water tank. Hot water can (and usually will) corrode metal parts from your tank and plumbing and can be contaminated by all sorts of nasty stuff that won't go away even if you boil the water first.

    https://www.denverwater.org/tap/psa-dont-drink-or-cook-with-hot-water-from-the-tap?size=n_21_n

If you look it up on youtube, you can see for yourself the insane amount of crap that builds up inside a hot water tank over time. https://youtu.be/kAzKts6Wp1Q?si=UMPzHcIoSRdSgJ4g&t=88

  • The Eruption of Mt. St. Helens, 1980
  • I remember the summer that happened. I was a kid that lived 1100 miles away in Canada and can still recall the haze and smell we had that summer.

    Volcanoes are scary as hell.

  • Now that it's getting cooler
  • In my case it's because the last several owners of this house were idiots that cheaped out on everything and thought they knew better than the professionals do.... my plumbing is a wonderful variety of crap soldered to different crap that I think was partially salvaged from the Titanic or something.

And since I'm renting, I have no ambition to rip anything out and fix it properly unless it breaks.

  • Infinite Machine raises $9M to convince Americans to buy scooters
  • So when your cybertruck breaks down you can just whip out the cyberscooter to go get help.

  • Now that it's getting cooler
  • That's my kitchen sink. Takes forever to get hot water but the bathroom (Which is further from the tank) takes half the time.

The joys of an old house.

  • My daughter is a video editor looking for work and found a site called ytjobs.co Anyone know if it is legit?

I tried looking around a little and it sounds really scammy to me. All the contact info and domain registrars is listed "redacted for privacy." Personally the whole thing seems to smell funny to me but I could be wrong. Anyone used or heard of this site before? I just want to make sure my daughter isn't going to get screwed over

This sub reminds me of an ad I saw in a magazine sometime in the late 80's/ early 90's

    >"How to get thousands of people to send you money with little to no effort. Send $5 and a self addressed stamped envelope to..."

I've always wondered how many people fell for that.

My 48yr old unopened bottle of beer. (Circa 1975)

I saw the String cheese post so I thought I'd share my own "slightly beyond best before date" consumable. I used to have two of them that I had found in my attic under some insulation, but the other one froze in my garage and broke open. (No, it did NOT smell pleasant. I'm pretty sure whatever vile liquid is in that thing does not resemble beer in any way, shape, or form.)

It's perched on a flashlight to try and show the sediment that's built up on the bottom of the bottle.

Newest family member, found by herself on the side of a gravel road yesterday.

My daughter found her alone on the side of a gravel road yesterday morning and brought her to my house. We think she's about 6 weeks old. I had to edit the post title three times because she keeps stepping on the keyboard to attack and viciously lick my fingers.
