Games that restore faith in the industry?
  • Roguelite:

    FTL - Faster Than Light

    Dead Cells

    Nova Drift

    Hades

    RPG:

    Divinity: Original Sin 2

Disco Elysium (pirate this game, it was "stolen" from the devs, they wont see the money if you buy this game anyway)

Those are some of my all time favorite, superb quality, labor of love titles. Are you also interested in couch coop games?

  • The first large-scale anti-Zionist demonstrations in Palestine, March 1920
  • Fascism and supremacism should be fought in all its forms

I wonder, how serious are you about the "all it´s forms" part, considering you chose to not put Israeli in that list?

  • 20-Barrel Gun, Venice, Italy, ~1615 AD
  • Seems like that is what those TWWH Empire guns are based on:

  • Battle of Courtrai by Angus McBride
  • Makes sense, there are barricades in the picture, so he did not bother bringing the long one.

  • Battle of Courtrai by Angus McBride
  • Correct, I wonder why it´s depicted so short though. You can´t stop charging cavalry with something that short I think. Also:

The goedendag was probably set in the ground secured by the fighter's foot and aimed with both hands

    From the article you linked.

  • "UFO's !!!" by Dirk Wachsmuth
  • Nice, the lines and colors are really good, remind me of Moebius.

  • "UFO's !!!" by Dirk Wachsmuth
  • Pilots traditionally use methamphetamine, not alcohol.

  • Lemmings, which communities are you blocking?
  • Anime subs and tankies of course.

  • Welcome!
  • Hey hey! I play AE but still wanted to salute all you MV Captains! Btw there is no vanilla community on lemmy yet, why make a community only for MV, when lemmy doesn't have so many users overall anyway?

  • Corn 🌽
  • And I will fondle yours too, give them here!

  • Corn 🌽
  • Gregor Mendel entered the chat ...

  • 16th Century Rajput warrior elephant armor from India
  • That is both true of course. However, I don't understand how that would mechanically interfere with wearing armor.

  • 16th Century Rajput warrior elephant armor from India
  • Why not? Think of medieval knight armor.

  • 16th Century Rajput warrior elephant armor from India
  • The armor is indeed an impressive historic piece of defense technology! I wonder why they left the lower legs unprotected? That created a weak spot I guess. Considering spears were used a lot on the battlefields of that age, it was probably possible to cut their tendons but I am of course just guessing here.

  • 16th Century Rajput warrior elephant armor from India
  • Those poor animals. I fucking hate people!

  • Careless Whisper on One Guitar (Alex Misko)
  • That guy is so good, he makes the originals sound cheap in comparison to his cover versions.

  • Two Black cowboys, USA, ~1913
  • Do we know today how high the percentage of black cowboys was? I could imagine classic western movies have lied to us in that department too ...

  • Two Black cowboys, USA, ~1913
  • Brokeblack Mountain

  • Chinese style creamy layered eggs with seasoned rice

Falafel with Tahini Sauce and Baba Ghanoush

I made everything myself, except the falafel.

    1

Potato-Chili Omelette topped with homemade Kimchi and fresh Cucumber

Kimchi has turned mature and pungent at this point, very delicious!

    2

Kimchijeon aka Kimchi Pancake topped with a mix of short fermented May Turnip and fresh Scallions

Hey everyone! Nice sub you started here! I needed something to make me feel better so I made this. I used mostly cornstarch and just a little flower, it turned out super crispy after frying it low and slow.

    A Cyberpunk Looking SMG - Demro XF-7 Wasp (1970s)

    cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/14351273

    > >Designed by Gerry Fox in the early 1970s, this carbine saw production sequentially as the Fox Carbine, the TAC-1, and the XF-7 Wasp, as it went through several different manufacturers. It is an open bolt, semiauto carbine sold in both 9mm Parabellum and .45 ACP – and you could get caliber conversion kits consisting of a bolt and barrel assembly to swap caliber on an existing gun. In 9mm they used Sten magazines, and in .45 then used M3 Grease Gun magazines. > > >The gun was marketed to law enforcement audiences as well as civilians, but never found any LEO success. A fully automatic version was also made, but similarly saw little popularity (because of the cost of NFA registration in the 1970s and 80s). > > ! > > >Mechanically, the gun is somewhat akin to the Soviet PPSh, which an upper cover that hinges open and a bolt which is square on the bottom and rounded on top. The TAC-1 version had a few neat additional features, namely a combination lock built into the receiver and a battery in the fixed wooden stock to power a stun gun/baton device for police use. The Wasp replaced the wooden furniture with a fairly clever collapsing metal stock... > > ! > > Ian's video [16:42] > > https://youtu.be/R7pSobtlfKI

    It's Wednesday my dudes 🐸

Today I would like to introduce you to Small Lebowsky, an austrian artist who became a living legend with a cult following on german speaking reddit communities. Especially the biggest german meme community r/ich_iel loves him for posting a new frog drawing every wednesday, always titled "Es ist Mittwoch meine Kerle" - "It's Wednesday my dudes", which he kept up for several years if I'm correct. Some time ago he stopped the traditional Wednesday frog posts on reddit and took a break, to soon after resurface on lemmy/mastodon.

His style is characterized by clear lines and is strongly influenced by manga, anime and Japanese pop-culture, as well as western fantasy and science fiction. His drawings are usually stuffed with -more or less insider- references and easter eggs for the viewer to find.

    Check out his work here:

An admin deleted all my uploads and I have no clue why

    cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/5966765

    > I have been uploading comic art images by Moebius for several weeks almost daily to the [email protected] community, where I´m a moderator myself. All those images have disappeared. Modlog says the images have been deleted by "admin". Modlog gives no reason for this but says the images were later restored by "admin" but that is not true. All my comic art posts have been destroyed and are empty posts now. I was not even contacted a single time about this and honestly can´t think of a reason because I had uploaded exclusively "safe for work" and apolitical material. We are trying to build a community for european graphic novels like "Tintin", "Lucky Luke" and "The Incal" and I put a lot of love in those posts because I want to help make our community interesting and grow. However - I have been stongly discouraged to contribute content now that I have seen it gets arbitrarily wiped by anonymus admins. How can I find out what happened, who deleted my stuff and why they did so? How can I avoid this happeing to my posts in the future?

    A few suggestions regarding banning

I got banned for a day. There was zero communication about it. I simply could not log in any more without any prior warning or any information about what was going on, or about the reason for the ban. This seems like a pretty bad practice because it wont give the user any chance of knowing what they did wrong and how to change their behavior to avoid breaking the same rule again in the future. Even now with my account unbanned, the modlog does not tell me any of those things. I think it is essential to let anyone who gets banned know:

    • Why they were banned, including which rules they broke and in which statements/comments/posts they did so and how, to enable people to actually improve their behavior. Otherwise banning is pointless because users will just make a new account on another instance without changing their behavior

    • That they were banned, I was super confused when I just couldnt log in any more suddenly

    • For how long they were banned, I only found out about the duration of my ban by checking the modlog

    • Who banned them, to make a conversation possible and also to make sure some admins/mods don´t abuse their privilege

It would also make sense to have a warning/strike system in place so people don´t just suddenly get banned without ever knowing they did something wrong
