I can relate with your kid, I've just yelled why over and over when I hurt myself at times.
Definitely want to look around Colorado Springs, Brighton, Thornton, Aurora, Lakewood, ft Collins, maybe even Canon city for the best chances to walk the line between "affordability" and employment opportunities.
High elevation = less oxygen, pace yourself and drink water.

The Denver airport is an unreasonable distance from Denver and no matter what time you go, there's going to be traffic. Just go to Union station in downtown Denver and ride the free $10.50 airport train to save yourself the hassle.

Seriously, turn on your headlights in bad or even not great weather. If you turn on your wipers, turn on your headlights.
If a red light camera gets you, ignore it. They're unenforceable nonsense and you won't get in trouble.
