We got to be mature. Microsoft (and many other corporations) are a problem due to their unfair practices. But this is not a moral war against them, when we are not the problem. If we have vscodium, which is opensource and it has telemetry removed, which is the problem?
I would be happy if they didn't made the internet a worse place, if they weren't greedy billionaire assholes, if they didn't have a monopoly, but vscode does not affect my sleep.
What a race ! That was intense.
I don't know if it is possible, but I suspect there is an automated way to do it. Imagine you are using a client like thunder or liftoff. The "Create community" button is linked to an access point to the Lemmy API. If you know how to do it, you can DoS the instance. At the very least, you annoy the rest of the users.
I agree with you. Track is a track. With curves, limits and that stuff. We all know they are faster if they don't brake but... like in any other GP?
It definitely sounds like a DoS / troll point, so it is good we realized this soon. Thank you for the proposal
I prefer flatpaks over snap, of course. I like using native packages, but I can definitely see the advantage in terms of dependencies, isolation and immutable systems, and they will probably be the future.
Liftoff, for the moment. But I think that there is still room for a lot of improvement. It is completely normal, this is still growing ^^
I like it, I don't know
I see. That is quite generous from him. Including it in the price, I mean. I dont know how old the laptop is, though.
I am not sure if you both want that, but if you prefer Marlin and if he wants to keep the laptop, Marlin can be reinstalled.
Oh, trust me, it is huge. I will try to write just a summary. Normal/old/entrylevel printers use Marlin. It is a firmware that understands the code and executes movements. Klipper is a new firmware that runs mostly on high tier new machines OR any other old/normal/entrylevel printer only if you have an extra board. This is a critical difference. Marlin runs on your printer. But klipper runs on two different parts: your printer and an external board. Why? The printer has a simple electronic chip, it is limited. The external board can be a Raspberry Pi, an old phone, etc. This allows Klipper to calculate much more faster. And what is the advantage of having more powerful hardware? That there are some advanced settings and things you can only do if you have Klipper.
So, regarding you, a new user: Klipper is more advanced than Marlin. This means, it can be trickier but also offer higher quality. And most importantly, it usually requires having another device connected. Is that device included?
Marko is not a fan of anyone... He is hating as much as he can. That said, he is probably right here.
I read the comment about the price. As they say, the baseline is usually 200€/$. So, it depends. The upgrades are quite nice, definitely. You say it has Klipper installed. But I wonder if they include the extra board. Klipper is a huge point here.
So, if it is in a good state (since it is second hand), I think it is a nice price.
However, the Klipper thing has me interested.
I guess you are talking about Android. You could use app tunneling depending on the particular app?
I don't have one, but I heard that it is always a great entry point. It is an ender 3 with some improvements. There are lots of YT videos since it is a popular printer.
The effort of Proton is awesome. They did a lot for gaming out of Windows
