"Maybe This is Too Cool" - After years of layoffs and pay/resource freezes, Amazon execs treat themselves to a private Foo Fighters concert worth millions
  • Yeah, I can see how it could be seen that way. I'm thinking more along the lines of "Dave performs for money. Someone wants to pay a lot of money for a special performance, and it doesn't affect any of his other shows so of course he would do it". IMO what Dave did isn't unethical, but I can see how it could be seen that way. But I also think if the article was "Amazon Execs bought a multi million dollar yacht after massive layoffs", no one would be blaming the yacht manufacturer. Just the execs.

  • Best way to share scad files that use external libraries?

I want to post my design on Printables but my scad file uses a threads library found here. Should I just add a comment above the "use" statement with a link on where to get the library?

Made a aviator cable mount to keep my coils alligned

My coiled cable likes to rotate which makes the coil messy. This little 3d print I made keeps it nice and tidy. Hope it helps anyone with similar issues. You can find the files here: https://www.printables.com/model/433584-coiled-cable-lockaligner

    Experience with board and training?
  • Thanks for the advice! I agree, the best training would involve us which is one reason why I'm hesitant on board & train. But he's stagnated for a while on his current training plan, so trying to find new options.

  • Experience with board and training?
  • We're well prepared to actually follow training plans following up. We've been consistent with our current one for 2 years. We're just looking for other options since his progress has stagnated, even though he has progressed a ton (like we can actually go to a park, and he will be happy and relaxed now). Not against negative training, we're only going off of what our current trainer tells us, which is "Since its fear based aggression, the best way to correct it is to use positive reinforcement so that he learns that people and other dogs are good things". Thanks for sharing your experience! I think we'll set up a consultation with this new trainer and see.

  • Experience with board and training?

Meet Kronk! We adopted him ~3 years ago, after being given up on by 2 other families. When we adopted him, it was clear he was never socialized and is very reactive to other dogs and some people (Specifically men, which makes me wonder what kind of life he had as a pup). We've been working with a specialized Vet and Trainer for 2 years now, and he's on some anxiety meds. He's improved quite a bit, but he's also gotten quite protective of my wife. So while I can walk him with only small reactions, my wife cannot. He's very reactive and is a bite risk when someone gets close. And since he's a cutie black lab, everyone wants to get close to pet him even when he's actively snapping at them since they're "Good with dogs" 😑 Anyways, we found a place that does a 3 week board and train to work with aggression, but I'm not sure how effective they are. I don't think he's going to get much better with us, since we have to focus on safety instead of training. And since he's been given up on twice, I don't want him to think we're abandoning him since its a long program. Does anyone have experience with these type of training programs?

Any good April Fools jokes out there?
  • Nothing online I've found is interesting. But I bought a pack of "Student Driver" magnets, and put it on my car enthusiast friends Porsche. Haven't heard anything yet, so im hoping its still on. Might throw a new one on whenever I notice its gone.

  • Minimal Phone: Low-priced smartphone with E Ink display and complete keyboard
  • It's not a "worse" display. It's a different display. The only point is that if you want an e-ink phone (either for readability or battery life) this is one of the only options. Assuming it actually launches at least.

  • Ford electric vehicle owners can now charge on Tesla's network, but they'll need an adapter first
  • I know with the v4 tesla chargers that has the adapter built in, non-teslas couldn't use them until the manufacturers made an agreement. Maybe it's the same here? Where you can get an adapter and if your car brand has already made the deal with tesla you're good to go. Unless Ford put software in their adapter to only work on ford's.

  • Fear Mongering About Range Anxiety Has To Stop — CT Governor Calls Out EV Opponents
  • I think it's because someone who takes enough Road trips to use something like that would properly just get a regular plug in hybrid. That being said, this might be coming soon for ev trucks actually. The dodge ram ev is going to have a gas powered range extender, and I believe ford has patented a bed mounted version for its ev truck.

  • What is a nifty little feature modern gadgets have lost?
  • These still exist, for now at least. Just not any flagship phones. My Oneplus nord n30 has all of this (well idk if the fingerprint sensor is ultrasonic, it's on the side and fast though). And I'm pretty sure a lot of Motorola phones have these as well. Only downside is not the best processors or cameras, but are good enough for me at least.

  • What are the best e-readers on the market?
  • I have a kobo libra 2, but have had kindle paperwhites in the past. The kobo is the better experience IMO, for 3 big reasons. 1, physical buttons. The buttons on the side also mean there's a good place to hold the device, where on my old paperwhite I would accidentally skip to the next page constantly. Someone with smaller hands probably won't mind as much though. 2, easier to get library books. Overdrive is built in, so I don't have to go find my phone to search for books. 3, more customizable with the fonts and layouts and I can load in custom fonts really easy. That being said, my partner has the newest Kindle, and she adores that thing and hates how big the kobo is.

  • Anon wants to play CoD
  • In a small defense of ME legendary, it is 3 different games in one package. Still Annoying, especially since storage space isn't the only factor. Internet speed can really ruin your gaming plans

  • Help finding a suitable streaming box
  • Good idea. I checked and it's not transcoding, just direct play for audio/video so it's not codecs. I'm still leaning towards bit rate being too high for the fire stick processor for now

  • Help finding a suitable streaming box

Looking for recommendations on a streaming box to connect my TV to plex. I have a lot of 4k blu ray rips averaging 80-100mbps and I'm struggling to find a client that can handle it. First I had a Roku, which had network bandwidth issues. So I moved to the new fire stick 4k max, which still buffers like crazy. I don't think its network related because its pulling 500mbps down, and my laptop (which pulls 300 down) can stream it just fine. So any recommendations on a tv streaming box? I've seen the Nvidia shield, and the Mecool KM2 plus deluxe but want to get some opinions before buying anything. Thanks!
