Unintentionally posted a pretty compressed version of this… but you get the idea haha
Totally didn’t mean to post this a second time. I forgot I did the other day
Thanks for the recommendations! I’ve looked into (and set up) a few of these, but there are a few I definitely need to look into more! Need to learn more about sandboxing apps as well.
Oh this seems great, definitely checking this one out
No shame in that. I considered myself a pretty proficient Linux user until I installed arch lol
No experience with audio stuff but I feel you in terms of photo editing. Lightroom is gonna be sad to lose but darktable seems pretty good and if I’m being honest I mostly edit on my iPad anyway.
For games if nobody answers your question I’ll test it out when I get home from work
Nice, I’ll have a look at those when I’m home from work! Gamemode is pretty cool I never even thought about installing that.
The start menu was getting so painful 😭
Finally moved to arch from Windows
Hey all, I’m a longtime Ubuntu user for work and recently switched my desktop to arch from windows after seeing how well games run on my steam deck! I’ve wanted to move to Linux fully for years but gaming on it used to be pretty hit or miss.
So far arch has definitely been more involved to get going - but I managed to get a desktop environment that runs great with my gpu and steam. I love how minimal it is out of the box and I’m getting a lot of ideas of stuff to build with it.
Anyway I’m mostly just posting to introduce myself to the community on here and to say how much I’m liking arch so far.
But, if you have any tips/suggestions of things I may have missed to take full advantage of my system when gaming, I’d appreciate hearing it! Also, if you’re running a setup like this, any favourite packages you have?
Wow, I know I’m late but I’d love an invite! No worries if there aren’t any spots left tho
Photo of Halifax from Dartmouth on 35mm film
Took this pic a year ago. One of my faves from last summer (:
I love taking still life’s at home!! Such a great feel to this pic
Peering [Minolta x700 / Minolta MD 28-85 Macro Zoom / LomoChrome Color ‘92]
I was lucky enough to be given a test roll of lomography’s new film, and here’s my favourite shot from the roll.
If I’m being honest, I definitely underexposed the whole roll, and I’m disappointed with the scans I got from a lab I don’t use often. I have seen some stellar images with the film though so I’ll have to try another roll soon.
This looks, not sure, dreamy? I like it cause I feel like I’m there
Thanks everyone for the responses! I guess it really all is personal preference! I ended up just switching to the analog stick like a few commenters and I’m getting used to it. Not sure why but I just can’t get used to the dpad.
Yeah fair enough, I know a lot of folks don’t like Xbox ones but I honestly like the series ones, before that I was Sony all the way. I never had a vita but the original psp had a pretty solid one. I even like the joycons! I guess it’s all preference anyway, but I find the deck takes a bit too much pressure for me to react quickly. I may give it a bit more time.
Thoughts on the D-Pad?
Just wanna say that I’m loving the steam deck so far overall, but wow I just started playing rogue legacy and I realized the dpad is basically unusable for me.
I personally love modern and retro platformers and not having a decent d-pad is very disappointing. For now I’m just using an xbox controller instead, but I would love to see this improved with the next iteration of the deck.
Just wanted to get peoples thoughts on this topic!
My guess is just to scare things that eat it? Idk it is super interesting
Apologies if the image isn’t loading for you, let me know and I’ll compress it and repost. New to this whole Lemmy thing 😅
Finally got around to playing ni no kuni because of the steam deck (: not sure what’s next, thinking something less story focused like a roguelike
