Please feel to post any questions, suggestions, remarks, whathaveyou about the instance and what I can possibly do to improve your experience here. Also general Lemmy/Fediverse questions are absolutely welcome.
Hello! I'm trying to use Jerboa on my cell but it tells me "Server (0.17.4) version too low". 😟 What to do? Will lemmy.film be upgraded? Is there another lemmy app for android?
I was a regular lurker on r/television and I was wondering if you're considering doing a Weekly Recommendation thread, in my case I would prefer TV shows but movies on the same thread should be fine. Also the bot that tells you the top 10 mentions (see here) would be neat too
Hi, I'm happy to have found a film-focused instance I can keep an eye on. I'm not registered here, but I'm looking for communities that cover media production/VFX news (news about studios, opinion pieces, upcoming releases, new fx technologies etc) tutorials ( such as for editing, 3d modelling, texturing, compositing, etc).
Would this instance be the right place for such a community? Or perhaps someone can please point me in the right direction? Unfortunately I don't think I have what it takes to start and maintain a community, I'm not someone who posts. Cheers
Sorry for the delay, @[email protected] but yeah, you've come to the right spot! Look around at the existing communities here—there are new ones being added all the time. If there isn't a specific community that fits your interest, you can always request one at our lemmyfilm.meta community. Particiption is key!
I'm having some serious issues using lemmy.film. I'm actually posting this from my .world account because I can't even see this post with my .film account. Anyway, some communities I'm subscribed to, I see the posts just fine. Others, I see zero posts, even as the sidebar for the community says there are posts. This includes posts from actual lemmy.film communities. Meta, and moviesnob, for example. I can't see anything in either one.
I've checked my settings, and I'm using undetermined and English. I can't see anything else that would allow me to see more posts. What's going on here?
Hey there! I love the /editors subreddit since it's full of a lot of really useful information about getting into editing, the future of the industry, and a bunch of interesting tidbits and best practices. Would there be a way that could be an added community over here?
I know that sub has been trying to find a new home since they don't feel like the future of reddit is really that confidence inspiring.
Hmm I don't really have much time in a normal day to mod. I can try reaching out to mods of the subreddit to see if they're down to switch over (or if they would be open to the idea in the future).
That's so kind! Thank you. Right now the server costs are around ~$30/month minus the domain. After I take care of more housekeeping items (fleshing out basic rules, more communities, possibly opening community creation somewhat), I'll look into a transparent way of making this place community-supported.
