As tensions rise over the increasingly important “Zent candidates,” Rozemyne finds herself entangled in the web of royal politics. Thankfully, this also secures her the chance to bargain with one of the princes...
First of all, thank you for making this community!
This whole volume has really thrown me for a loop with how much it is mixing things up! It was so cool to see Rozemyne negotiating for everything she can wring out of the royal family and how much Sigiswald was thrown off guard by her.
A lot of people theorized last week about whether the passageway she was denied entry to for not being a royal was somehow not the original method for obtaining the Grutrissheit and was added later. It would make sense that since the shrines at the RA surround the central building that she would have to do something on the stage and I wonder if that's what will end up happening at the Dedication Ritual.
My wife is about one volume behind right now and I keep telling her to catch up because the story is getting so good! It takes all my willpower to avoid going the MTL route.
Thanks for letting me know I'll pin a post saying to migrate there. I think this will be for the best to avoid to many micro bookworms from forming (found another small instance at lemmy.ml)
Ya love to see it. Rozemyne as an archduke candidate is in a position of less power than a prince, so you get kind of an underdog story. Also I love how her time as Benno's apprentice (maybe idea monster is a better term...) actually comes into play in shaping her interactions! She has two distinct advantages in her conversation with Prince Siggy: 1) she and Syl/Flor can plan out their verbal attack beforehand. 2) She has Siggy alone without retainers because of the sensitive location and nature of their talks. Having said that, she absolutely DESTROYS him. He says his top priority is mana for Yogurtland. She says great lets do an immediate Dedication ritual. He backtracks and says there's not enough time. She's like, oh there's time for a short notice marriage because of the lack of mana, but I guess it's not that important. She then continues to eviscerate his points one by one. Oh, well of course I'm concerned about Ferdy, he saved my life and taught me everything I know. And so on and so on. Benno, Mark, Otto, and Lutz would be so proud of our one-time sort-of merchant (really she was just the idea monster, but she still got trained).
She has gotten better at euphemisms; she downplays it in her mind a bit, but "what would happen if I were to lose control" is 100% a threat. But it's noble-speak and vague enough that she can play it off as her truly wondering.
Some other random thoughts:
-Prince Hildebrand trying to help her is interesting, I wonder what his help was going to be?
-Didn't the magic bunnies revert to Rozemyne's ownership when she dumped in the student Dedication Ritual mana? Is she going to accidentally get registered as a Royal by dyeing their foundational tools?
