It's cheaper to re-roll rares than legendaries, so roll the enchants before applying a legendary affix
Helltides are the only drop locations for the mats you need to re-roll enchants
--Helltides.com has got a tracker for when they'll be and where the Mystery chest is.
You can do the capstones at any level, but if you're early it could be tough.
always play however you find most fun, if you're looking to be efficient or aren't sure where to start...
you get your mount at the very beginning of act IV if you want to get more mobility.
if you just do the main story (yellow quest markers), you'll be slightly under leveled by the end of the game.
get renown up at least up to level 1 for each region. The extra skill points and bonus XP are great
probably the best things to do for renown are strongholds and side quests. Strongholds are usually 100+20 renown for the included waypoint. Side quests that are also in dungeons will yield 20+30 renown
Make sure you level up your healing potions every 10ish levels!
salvaging gear will give you mats you'll really want later in the game. You'll probably have enough gold and can skip selling

I've been salvaging everything that I don't need and have been wondering - what does that even do? What do I do with the stuff I get from salvaging? Wouldn't it be better to just sell everything?
I think the general consensus so far is to salvage everything until you are close to 50 and then start selling everything. In the end game item sell value goes up but prices for everything skyrockets.
Salvaging gives you the same kind of materials you ise for upgrading weapons. You can also find these by exploring but as they said, it's easier to find hold so I just salvage everything.
Altars of Lilith are very effective in endgame for boosting stats. A lot of paragon related boosts will depend on having enough of a certain attribute on your character to be really OP.
You can keyword search effects in the skill tree. For example if you want to make a build that does critical damage you can plan your build with skills that you find by searching for that keyword.
Use your murmuring obols to roll for legendaries at the purveyor of curiosities. The rolls can be disappointing but legendaries come more often than you think. There's a limit to the # of obols you can carry (you'll hit this fast if you do a lot of world events), so use them!
Horse armor from stable vendors is a lot cheaper on a low level alt. Always buy mount armor on a new / low level character after unlocking your mount on a higher level character.
I'm leveling a sorc now as a casual player on world tier 2. There's a lot of versatility on leveling builds. Change things up often and experiment. I found a legendary that put frost nova on 2 charges instead of 1 and it's been a blast teleporting into a group, frost nova, and ice shard machine gunning down everyone. Before that I played around with lightning builds and they were pretty fun too.
Level on World Tier 1 the first time, the XP and gold bonuses don't equal the increased monster health so you'll level more slowly even though you get more XP
Any tips for how to decide about equipment? The stats are overwhelming and I feel I need a program to sort it all out when my bags are too full.
Lately, because I'm lazy, I'm just dropping all the stuff that is below rare, salvaging any rare that has a red minus and then being completely undecided about legendary, so I stuff them in my storage to deal with later.
