Oh, wow! Paris will be so much safer now! I sure love not having to worry about a form of personal transportation that was responsible for three (3) deaths in a year - goodness knows what the city would look like if there was an even worse offender!
Paris already has pretty high congestion taxes to reduce cars. They have a solid public transit system that most people use. Spent two weeks there right before COVID and never once needed a car - metro was always faster and cheaper according to Google Maps.
Last time I was in Paris I saw small mountains everywhere of those on the street where people tossed them or collected them in a single spot. It was insane. I think Paris had an issue with the amount of escooters that flooded the city. Vienna for example has put a limit on the amount of scooters - seems to work so far.
Good! This was meant to foster electric micro-mobility, but I see mostly kids and teenagers using them for joyriding and then leave them somewhere on the sidewalk or throw them in some ditch.
