What is the reason behind the pending subscription

It’s not a “feature”, it’s just the server being slow.
- I have some that have been like that for almost a week.
  
  I had a couple that got stuck, I was able to retry the sub and they went right through.
It's a visual bug. You are actually subscribed and posts should be showing in your feed just fine.

Hopefully this is one of the things the impending update sorts out.
- Yeah I've had 100% success just tapping the button until it switches from pending to subscribed.
My guess is it's waiting for a server response or something, I've only had it happen every once in a while
Glad you asked. I’ve been wondering this myself and never found the answer.
From what I’ve seen, it never stops pending and all you can do is try again later
