I doubt it, the consumer market is a tiny portion of what they sell at this point, they just don't care that much, they just tossed us scraps, that's who is a paper launch with technical difficulties
That's kinda what I meant with "feels intentional". Some manager went "Yeah fuck QA for consumer products, put those 50 people to work on business/AI stuff instead, we make fuck all money from consumers anyways".
With every month that passes, I feel ever more infuriated that so many of the programs I use are essentially hard-locked to Nvidia, with frankly miserable performance on other GPUs. Not the cards' fault, the software devs' fault for - when they even bother at all - doing a piss-poor job of integration with other GPUs.
true but nvidia could solve this problem in a day easily. they just have to admit that their business moved on and they make more money with ai. then open source and cc-license all gaming related gpu tech. then the gaming graphics landscape will flourish.
right now they have a walled garden but forgot to build a gate into the wall so it's just there to allow the 10 gpu owners to upload cool 4k Cyberpunk videos
I genuinely cant even remember the last nvidia card I bought... MX440 I think? (My old laptop did come with a 1050 QT, but its not like I had much choice in that, being a laptop and all..)
Not for lack of interest, its just..every time I've had to replace a GPU, AMD was the better bang for buck option.
Course, most of that interest came from them monopolizing tech.. Like buying Ageia and getting rid of the dedicated card and integrating it onto their gpus, so only nvidia could use fancy PhysX stuff..
They're such fuckers. If you ever use Linux (or better yet, have used Linux in the past where Nvidia was a nightmare to get working) you'll hate them even more. Intel and AMD are literally plug-n-play. Nvidia? Prepare for a ton of shit to come your way.
