Many of the 2,000 Alabama households impacted had already seen the funds credited to their accounts and will have to pay the money back on their next bill.
I saw a MAGoo post that he knew that Trump's polices would hurt him personally, and he voted for them anyway. Somehow, he managed to convince himself that America had to suffer to be great again.
I mean its not a completely absurd concept that you sometimes need to deal with short term hardships to achieve longterm greatness. Its just that in this case, the hardships dont actually help at all and are purely negative with little to no positives short or longterm.
Yeah, I read that one too. Some thing about how in the long term after Trump is no longer president how America will be better off. Fucking douche canoe also forgot that America doesn’t actually manufacture anything so there’s no industry to protect with high tariffs.
Is that the one who said he may lose his job, but he'd be ok because he had worked to make himself employable unlike all those other people who may lose their jobs?
I feel bad for anyone in Alabama who actually voted Blue. Same as Trxas, its deep red- but I have a huge number of friends who had to relocate to Houston because our company moved their headquarters there and now they’re stuck in this little island of liberal surrounded by gun toting Republicans…
Oh, I get it. I even feel compassion for some of them, even though they don’t have the education, vocabulary or sense to put it into words.
The problem is that most Americans, whether they live in a red state blue state, are unhappy with the way things that have been proceeding for the last 30 - 40+ years. Their way of life has changed. They’ve watched businesses and wealthy and enrich themselves on their hard work and they’re angry that they don’t have a piece of that pie anymore.
They happen to be mad because for the last, I don’t know how many decades politicians, the media, and every preacher trying to convinced them that it’s black people, or immigrants, or liberals, or Democrats, pick a flavor something to hate.
So now they are cheering for the dismantlement of the government and the society that left them behind. They are mad at the wrong people for the wrong things.
Unfortunately that is true and part of the reason they are doing it. Their own people are just collateral. They don’t care and this isn’t the first time this has happened.
He's taking back $100 each from 2000 households. That's $2 million dollars. They are supposedly trying to cut $2 trillion dollars in government spending. That's 0.0001% of their goal. If you were trying to cut $1000 from your yearly budget, this would be 1/1000th of a cent or roughly the value of pocket lint.
Clearly, the cruelty is the point because there is no other tangible result from this.
P.S. I'm still working on my first cup of coffee so don't be too hard on me if my math is wrong. I still stand by my assessment that the cruelty is the point.
The point you make is important and valid, but I would like to correct the specific numbers for the audience watching from home. 100*2000 is 200 thousand, not two million, which comes to 1/10 millionth of the goal, or 0.00001%. Using the $1000 budget metaphor, that would make 1/10000 of a dollar or 1/100 of a cent.
Don't feel bad about missing a zero here or there, especially early in the day <3
“Low income Alabama residents” is the key phrase. Considering the demographics of Alabama, the majority of people helped by this program were probably Black.
I'd venture a guess that there are an equal number of poor white people in Alabama. Truth be told, Alabama is a festering shithole of a state, and the only reason you don't hear more about how bad it is, is because they got Mississippi right there making them look good by comparison.
