At least some clients have them if you like to try. I am using thunder on android which has it but I haven't tried it myself so not sure how effective it is.

Yeah that is true. They did add instance blocking after it was requested a lot so hopefully this will be added soon to Lemmy.
I have every word relating to the US filtered. Every community filtered. And it still fills half my feed. Wish I could do more.
E.g. OP comic was not filtered.

Shame filters rely on people actually including the filtered keywords in the title.
