Donald Trump is facing two indictments, with the potential for more. And yet he is not only in a historically strong position for a nonincumbent to win the Republican nomination, but he is in a better position to win the general election than at any point during the 2020 cycle and almost at any point...
EDIT: I would like to ask people in the comment section to respect community info. This is not c/politics. Thank you.
I can't imagine how bad I would feel if he got elected again. But, if we got a 75 or 80 percent turnout, and that was the result, I'd be ok with it. The people have spoken, and all that.
Trump lost the Senate in 2018, the presidency in 2020, and the republicans managed a wet fart in 2022 with Trump's candidates in particular tanking hard.
Trump absolutely has a base of support that's not going anywhere but he no longer has the incumbent advantage, the "Unknown Quantity" advantage, or the "I'm not currently under multiple felony indictments" advantage.
Lots of people voted for Trump in 2016 and then went on to vote for Biden in 2020. I don't see anything that indicates any of those voters would go back to Trump. He's not offering anything new or exciting.
All that is not to say we should be complacent. I just don't think we should be listening to people that say Trump has some big advantage 15 months out from the election. If anything, he's going to get more unfocused and distracted as indictments pile up.
If I was a rich (trillions of dollars) I'd spend so much to secretly get Trump to do things like this.
"We've always felt that two men should be able to dress in any way they want and dadgumit, JoeBob is damn good in bed", said Billy King, a non-binary tractor mechanic who often wears pink coveralls to his job at a local hog farm.
It always has been! Every fucking day there is a new article about "ThE gOp Is LoSiNg" then as the reality sets in we get these bizarre completely disconnected articles that seem shocked at the prospect that the front runner for one of two parties may actually win.
I'm so tired of the news agencies complete and utter fantastical outlook.
Here's another spoiler for the news agencies that everyone already knows. We missed our chance with climate change, it's here and it's killing
That article tells everyone they should just give up. Why bother changing anything now?
No that's a bad article. The one you want is climate change is here and it's only going to keep getting worse if massive changes aren't made at the top
It's the truth though, it doesn't matter how much it sucks what I just said about climate change is 100 percent true, if we cut ALL carbon right now we'd still go over 1.5C. I'm so sick and tired of all these fucking feel good lies. Is humanity doomed from climate change? That's up to humanity to decide, is climate change here and unstoppable? Yeah and no matter how many fantasy tales you spout it's still the truth.
One thing to consider for both of these guys is that they are ancient. Like, either one could kick the bucket six months before election day. I hope the dems have a serious backup plan.
