Breaches can't hurt a company if you just STOP FUCKING COLLECTING THAT DATA IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Without being too specific, I did work for a automaker and they collected a scary amount of data used to make targeted service recommendations.
Breaches need to hurt them a LOT more before they'll take action.
Collecting location data on nearly a million people should be a bankruptcy and jail time sized offence.
