  Terry is genetically Bruce's son because the government put DNA altering tech (NANOMACHINES, SON) into a flu shot they gave to Terry's dad so that his sperm would genetically be Bruce Wayne's. Then later the government was going to murder Terry's parents so he would get traumatized and become Batman.
  
  Yes it's real, yes it's stupid. The show is still great. (The reveal also happens in a Justice League episode so you don't even have to skip over it while watching the show.)

  I watched the show but I didn't get to follow the story well because back in my day we couldn't just stream a show we had to watch a certain TV channel at a certain time and oh fuck I'm old.
