The concept of a trek sitcom seems a little silly and much, but with lower decks eventually coming to an end it does leave an opening for more lighthearted comedy startrek. Still I feel animation allows for more and easier shenanigans.
I somehow missed that the sitcom idea was anything serious. I'd be surprised if it ever makes it to the finish line, but with Tawny involved that's a promising sign it won't be crap!
Tawny did a guest spot on the Greatest Trek podcast recently, and shed a little more light on how this thing came into being.
Apparently, it was Paramount that was pushing to get a Trek sitcom off the ground, and Alex Kurtzman wasn't sure it could work. But he mentioned it to Tawny, and she rode for the idea.
