I really couldn’t pick up a PS5 and not get Astro Bot.
I really couldn’t pick up a PS5 and not get Astro Bot.
Surprised to see it’s either sold out or quite expensive in a lot of places.
Got this one for just under retail price and grabbed ESP Galuda II for just €34 alongside it. 😊
The reviewers who say that this is a soulless game, which only appeal is corporate marketing disguised as fake nostalgia, are the last people who should be talking about what does or doesn’t have “soul”. 😶🌫️
This game is an absolute joy to play.
So much love and creativity went into it, I can’t even begin to imagine how one can look at it with such a cynical mindset. 👀
@[email protected] I didn’t catch those reviews. That’s a ludicrous take on one of the most fun & joyful games I’ve ever played in my 40 years as a gamer.
@[email protected] I see a lot of "reviewers" refer to platformers as nostalgia bait, almost like they're trying to deter people from making them anymore.
I always ignore reviews of games, and in doing so I've found many gems, like those reviewers years ago that slated Blue Dragon as "trying to capitalise on the success of Final Fantasy and failing hard", I tried it and absolutely adore that game to this day. It's one I constantly go back to when I get the Xbox 360 out.
I do check out reviews, but I do ignore the negative ones for the most part.
Always trying to find people who have tastes similar to mine and who I can trust. Although, even that is not always 100% of course.
But I'm more interested in why people love a game than why people hate it.
It's all super subjective, so in the end a review is just a persons opinion.
I found out long ago that some of my favourite games just aren't loved by the masses.
@OutofPrintArchive If I can find that old magazine I'll scan it and upload a pic or two for you, some of those articles are sure to get you riled up, but most are pretty good reads.
I can't remember the name off the top of my head, it's a magazine that came with a series of demo discs primarily focused on Xbox.
@[email protected] My prediction: Astrobot will probably rank as one of the bestselling gifts this Christmas season and likely sell out 🤔 I probably should get a physical disc version myself 😄

I really hope so.
It would be a great message to Sony that we desperately need more games like this and that closing Japan Studio was one of the many really dumb things they did over the past decade.

That is strange...
Especially since this one looks so incredibly imaginative to the point where it could easily be mistaken for a Nintendo game.
That reminds me, I still need to grab that free one!
