Swear to god, this thing is amazing. You just put OnionOS on it, which is super simple. You then put your roms on, which is ALSO super simple. And then you play your games.....which, running them is super simple, but it doesn't make me suck any less at Pacman! JUST EAT THE DOTS!!! NO DON'T RUN INTO THE GHOST!!! Great.....now the ghost ate you. Are you happy, you rotund yellow puck??? What? No don't censor me! I said puck!!!! PUCK!!! NO NOT FU.....nevermind.
Still though. Get a Miyoo Mini Plus.
Not a fan of the tiny devices, need at least a 4” 4:3 screen.
I have a 2DS XL, Powkiddy X55, and a Steam Deck, I’m good for now.
I've got given one as a gift, and yeah, they rock. If I was buying it myself I might have looked for one with a bit more CPU power so I could play Dreamcast games, but prices maybe make that less of an easy sell.
Has anyone tried https://www.emudeck.com/ on a steamdeck? Should have enough CPU to play basically anything up into the PS2 era
I have a Retroid 3+ but got a Miyoo Mini plus and it's so much easier to pick up and game that I not only never touch the Retroid but have no intention to buy any Android retro handheld again.
I lost it in Greece and replaced it with an Ambernic SP running Garlic.
I always sucked at Pac-Man.
I never got platformers either. It was fun for a bit then there was the whole let make this part really hard so people have to memorize the correct buttons with the exact timing.
No fun puzzle solving that one.
What you're describing are called Kaizo levels.
Kaizo levels can eat a buffet of dicks.
I now have a name to put on the style of game play I do not enjoy.
