It would be nice if we could all come together and decide not to vote for toxic politicians who only attack the others and don't come forward with ideas and willingness to work together.
As Canadians we used to be able to set aside our differences to come to a common goal for everyone's prosperity, but I just don't see that anymore. US Political Toxicity has leaked too far into Canada. Let's remember what it means to be Canadian, and let's work with each other, listen to each other, and respect each other.
We are all Canadians, let's all work together and we can accomplish so much more. Let's help lift each other up.
I don't like O'Toole, but this is the kind of opinion that the CPC ousted him over. He was too reasonable and moderate for them, and sometimes he says something that shows that.
And this is one of those times where I can reach across the aisle and say "you know what, man? You're right. That's fucked."
A surprisingly adept point from a conservative of all people. Blind squirrels, broken clocks, etc.
Then again, maybe he was speaking just generally enough to evoke the audience sentiment biased by their own leanings and preconceived notions. I read it as, "social media is enabling the far right whackjobs to coordinate and pull stunts like blockades that cost the country's economy literally billions in a matter of weeks", but looking at the predictably shitshow of a comment section, those same whackjobs are using it as a yet another opportunity to decry ThAt TroODoPe hAs To gO.
I'm certainly not Trudeau's biggest fan, but I'll take it over the unrecognizable hellscape the PC's would turn our country into.
I'm not a "fan" of any politician, but Trudeau seems a lot more competent ( and generally willing to find some sort of middle-ground) than anyone the conservatives have put forward recently.
I bet the main concern is splitting the conservative vote now that there's a far right party. They've had a convenient monopoly on the right while the left vote is split between Liberal and NDP which allows them to get in without the popular vote. The Conservatives are going to fight the PPC as hard as they fight voter reform.
It's basically just angry dads who can't figure out how to use social media, and Karen's. Like who actually creates a comment account on a newspaper page, how very 2003 of you, Uncle Dennis.
I saw from this link that NP had a story on that too. It was basically "did leftist eco-terrorists set the fires? No, but Maxime Bernier tweeted that it's totally something they would do".
I hadn't paid attention to the comment section prior to reading your reply. I feel like I would have been better off not knowing what's written in there.
Every time I make this mistake I have to repeat to myself that this is not representative of a significant number of my neighbors until I believe it. It's probably a lie.
